We had our review at care yesterday after our first ivf which was nhs funded. Although I got a bfn we were lucky enough to have a grade 1 frozen embryo. I am 40 with a amh of 6.6. I asked if rather than going into the fet if we could do a fresh cycle... my thinking being I am getting older and if the fet failed I could be facing a fresh cycle 8 or months down the line when my egg quality quite possibly will have declined. My dilemma is if we were to do this self funded we would lose the nhs funding for the frozen embryo transfer so would have to fund this also. It would together use all our savings, but my thinking is you can find money easier than finding time. Any advice on what you would do ladies? I feel I’m so emotionally vulnerable at the moment that I don’t want to make the wrong decision. TIA

Did they give you a timeline of how quickly you can get in for a fet and what protocol you’d be having? It might be shorter than you think.
I’m 40 and at 37 had an amh of 8 so that’s probably taken a dive now. I’m in the 2ww of our only frostie from our successful first cycle. After this We are done so didn’t have to consider time implications for waiting on the fet.
Not that I’ve experienced, it but heard that going abroad can be cheaper than the UK. That would’ve been our next option if going for a fresh round
You can normally do an FET two bleeds after your bfn. If it’s a great frostie I really would use that one first as you could really save yourself some money, even an FET isn’t cheap to fund yourself. Xx
If you think you’ll want siblings then do a fresh cycle now. No question. I didn’t and I got my bfp from fet but am now 40 and a half and nowhere near ready to do another fresh cycle after pregnancy and giving birth and I’m also breastfeeding. I dread to think how low my amh would be by the time I might be able to do a new fresh cycle, whereas if I had a frozen embryo I’d know I had a chance of a sibling and would feel less anguished!
They said a fresh cycle would be around may time and a get would be around June as they would like to do a dummy run first as I had lining issues. So if I had a fer that failed and then looked at a fresh cycle it would be another 8 months and I really don’t know if my egg quality would have took a further nose dive
