Hi ladies. Just after some advice, I am 40 and have amh of 6.6 I have just had a failed fresh cycle where we had 2 good embryos transferred and 1 frozen. The next obvious step would be to move to FET. However I have been thinking of asking for a fresh cycle again. My thinking being I don’t want to fail this fet and be 6 months + older with lower amh. If I have fresh I stand a better chance than later and are still blessed with the frozen embryo. Does this make sense and has anyone been in this position? Trying to be positive and give ourselves the best chance but feel time is against us x

Hi. I'm not in the exact same position but understand where you are coming from. I have one ovary and got pregnant with first isci when i was 38. We have one frostie from that cycle. When i phoned the clinic to ask what happens next she said depends on what happens if our fet failed. If it was go for a fresh round, she said better get going asap due to age effect on eggs.
Maybe discuss with your clinic and see what they say.
I've had 3 fresh attempts. My AMH 5 years ago and it was 13.9. Both were successful but ended in MC, good response with 12 and 16 eggs but none frozen. I have endometriosis and needed surgery this affected my AMH. Last year my AMH dropped to 6.8, my consultant recommended DHEA and our 3rd attempt gave us 10 eggs, 7 fertilised and 5 made it to blasts, we actually had a choice on what to transfer this time. Fair to say everyone was shocked at how well that cycle went, we didn't get a BFP but we still have 3 frozen so I wouldn't get too hung up on your AMH my experience is everyone must be different xx
Thanks for this positive news. I had a afc if 1 on my first ever scan which prompted them to test me amh (originally referred due to male factor). They felt I wouldn’t respond to meds and expected a very poor amh... as it happens it was 6.6 which although on the low side not unusual for 40. I started taking dhea too and by the time I had another pre treatment scan and they found 7 follicles. I responded well to meds and managed to get 10 eggs, 8 mature and 5 fertilised... by day 5 we had an excellent embie and 2 good quality. Due to lining we decided to freeze the excellent one and transfer the 2 good ones. Unfortunately I started af bleeding before otd. I’m just so scared of time passing and not responding as well next timed waiting months.
How long did you take the DHEA for. I'm 37 so your AMH is good for your age xx
I took it for 2 and a half months which was time from first devastating scan to when I started stims. Back on them again now. I also started taking baby aspirin and heard they were good for blood circulation and getting blood to my follicles to grow, so could be either of those that made the difference Xx
I’d do fresh again if I were you x
Oh that’s a really hard choice. I get what you’re saying. We were actually in a similar boat recently. First round - one frozen, one put back - BFN. Decided to go for another fresh round and bump up our frozen reserve. My body coped better with second round IVF -short cycle suited me better than long protocol. Had 1 put back and 2 frozen. Now a BFP with the hope of siblings in the future. Still early days (only 6weeks) but praying so hard for this to all work out. Good luck with whatever you decide. Pm if it would help to chat further Xxx
It is a cruel journey. My anxiety levels are through the roof. How long did you have to wait to do a fresh cycle again?
