Next step advice needed

So after having miscarriage last year, this year we are looking to do a cycle of ivf with donor eggs, it is going to be later in the year so I'm as good as I can be.

My question is after having 1 miscarriage from 1st round then 2 BFN, to fall pregnant naturally ( 1 only have 1 tube and only time I've ever fell pregnant naturally in my life ) but to have a miscarriage again.

I've seen a clinic in Coventry with Dr quenby that does nhs referrals after 2 miscarriages for miscarriage investigation or They also do private Investigation for implantation failure ( think it's nk killers cells ect) for just over £500.

I just want to feel like I've done all I can before going through another round of ivf.

Can anyone give me experiences with either tests ect or advice on what may be best or other things I can look into.

I already know I have underactive thyroid which is controlled as had it since I was 18.

If you are mentioning clinics can you please pm

I just want some honest opinions

Hey I cant comment on this place although Im sure some other lovely ladies out there can help you - one that springs to mind is NDE1987 or have a look back her old posts, she has had her baby but might be able to give you info if you PM her. Im presuming your thyroid is under control, I got advised under 2 is advisable for conception. The other things would be if you could be checked for blood clotting disorders such as thrombophilia (factor 5 leidon etc). You GP may be able to go this for you or your clinic. The only thing to mention about the NK cell thing is that the treatment for this is steroids such as prednisolone to dampen your immune system and I know some ladies have been able to ask their clinic to give them a shot without doing the tests which has saved them a bit of cash. I had tests done and I only came back slightly raised but my clinic has agreed to let me give it a shot anyway as Ive tried everything else!xx

Thank you, yeah my thyroid is under control, I think it was a little bit lower than it's suppose to be but hospital weren't concerned when I was pregnant, they told gp to leave as it was and to refer me to them , unfortunately I miscarried before I got there.

Siiigggh the things we put our self's through ! I was on steriods for my very first ivf cycle but that was for thyroid antibodys. I had to move clinics and every consultant has rubbished the fact thyroid antibodys have any effect on pregnancy . I have messaged my clinic asking if they do any further testing for implantation/ miscarriage so waiting for them to get back to me.

Would you go for nk tests again or would you just try and persuade clinic to give you steriods without tests?

I've had a browse of NDE1987 and will send her a message.

Why is nothing straight forward in this infertility world!

How's you and your treatment going ?

I hope all is going well xx

There isn't a lot from my research they can do for implantation failure....and as you've had 2 miscarriages I wouldn't say implantation has been a factor but that's just my thoughts. There is a test called ERA test but this is pretty expensive. I had a hysteroscopy for failed implantation and they did find old scar tissue but again i havent had implantation at all. I would probably just badger for steroids, it's such a small dose that if it helps then great and if not then you were covered. I'm also getting clexane blood thinners as I've got a couple of clotting issues. Nope you're right, nothing is ever straight forward. I was just saying to another girl this morning that the most common reason for miscarriage and IVF failure and natural pregnancy failure is usually aneuploidy which I put a link on here it is here....hope it makes sense.

All fine with me, scan tomorrow to check lining again and hopefully transfer next week!🤞 Nervous but ready to get back on the horse. In some ways I just want to get on with it as July life just feels so much in hold!xx

What i just want to do is go in my clinic and say , just through all the drugs at me that might help , then hope and pray 🤣. Hopefully my clinic will get back to me tomorrow and offer some support as well.

Thank you for link, will do some research on that too, it's a shame we have to do so much research on things.

I know what you mean about life been on hold, we just need a massive crystal ball don't we to tell us yes if you keep going u will get there.

Well I have my fingers crossed for you for tomorrow that lining scan goes well and all progresses 😊.

Xx

Hey.

I’ve not been to Coventry, but have read good things.

You could contact Tommy’s for advice too?

We had two MC’s with ivf and from that we knew two before without knowing we were in early pregnancy. Got our GP to refer to recurrent MC clinic. Had various blood tests, including NK Cells blood tests, Karyotype blood tests and I had a hysteroscopy too. Nothing was found.

I’ve got endo and low amh.

Over the three fresh and one frozen rounds with my eggs, the results gradually reduced. The consultant said we had a 10% chance, whereas DE 50%.

Tried lots in the last round, steroids, blood thinners, aspirin, embryogen, scratch.,didn’t even get to OTD before spotting/bleeding.

DE clinic has said yes, I’ve had miscarriages, but there is nothing to indicate why or a reason, so hasn’t prescribed anything other than the progesterone pessaries.

They do recommend the sperm comet dna for men, as he said if you have good eggs, but the sperm is slightly lower quality, then the egg can overcome the sperm issues and there is lots in the news recently saying the same.

Good luck x

Thank you, I think tommys will only help if you've had 3 miscarriages, there is a clinic of tommys that investigate after 2 but you have to live locally and I don't .

I've seen that about sperm commet test, my consultant said he didn't think it was worth checking my husband's sperm , I think they think failures down to my egg quality. I've said to my husband I'm going to get them to test his sperm any way as it will make me feel better ( he didn't look too happy lol.)

I think I just want them to chuck everything at me , but as you have pointed out even when they did try everything it didn't work.

This journey is so unfair, maybe I just need another chat with consultant closer to the time of starting.

Best of luck with your DE round, I hope you get your BFP xx
