Hi ladies. Does anyone know the answer to these 2 odd questions? I started buserelin on the 30th jan, my period started last Friday. I only normally bleed for about 4 days and I am still bleeding. It’s not very heavy but definitely still bleeding. Is it normal?
Also I have now started my stims and 1/2 the buserelin but I’m confused as I thought the buserelin slows the ovaries and the stims stimulate them. Why have both now??? The clinic isn’t very helpful with explaining things.
I would appreciate some info.
Thank you
Xx

Hi Emma, I’ve done 2 rounds of IVF and both times my bleed was way longer than normal (9 days first round, 7 days this round). My understanding is that the buserelin stops you from ovulating and the stims make your follicles grow. You do them both to make sure you don’t ovulate until your eggs are mature enough for collection. Hope this helps and good luck with your cycle xx
Hi Emma, I don’t know the answer to your first question but as for the second one, I think the stims makes you produce lots of eggs while the buserelin stops you from ovulating. Obviously you don’t want to ovulate during an ivf cycle so that all the eggs will still be waiting for collection when scheduled. Hope that helps xx
Hi Emma, ya bleeding unusually long for me as well it took 9 days for me then when I started stimulation I had bed rest then bleeding stop but while strumming I did bleed 3 days .collected egg on time.every thing gone smoth
I also bled into the stims with a longer period. Infact mine started for two days stopped for two days then started again.
This time on DR I've only bled for 3 days and not so heavy as usual. Find out what's going on at my scan today. But think everyone can react differently main thing is that the lining starts increasing on your next scan.
As i understand it the DR is turning off the connection from the pituitary gland to your ovaries to stop ovulation.
