Can residual Menopur cause false positive pregnancy test?

Hi, I started my first round of IVF on the 4th Jan and after 10 days my cycle was abandoned because I only had one follicle develop. I was told I could try naturally and today I am 4 days late, have done a pregnancy test and very surprisingly it’s a BFP!!!! Could this just be a false positive from residual Menopur (it’s been 22 days since my last injection) or could I really be pregnant!?!? I don’t want to get excited just in case it’s false hope. Any advice appreciated

I don't know hon - I've got a feeling it's the trigger shot that can affect results and I don't think you got that far, did you? I really hope it's the real deal for you!!!

Hi, I dont know abt Menopur giving false positives but one of my close friend with low amh had her first ivf cycle abandoned as she did not respond well. She did not get her periods for abt 35days, did not do a pregnancy test as she dint believe she could be pregnant but was asked by her dr to do a pregnancy test and voila BFP. She is currently 27wks and going strong. You never know so please try another test a couple of days later to see if the test line darkens. Cautiously sending congratulations on your way.

Yup, pregnancy test measures hcg, which isn’t contained in menopur. It’s a BFP 😃 maybe the menopur gave that one follicle the boost it needed☺️ xx

My scan showed I’m 5 weeks and 2 days yesterday! I have a repeat scan next week just to check everything is growing nicely but fingers crossed for a successful 8 months ahead!!! The Menopur only has a small amount of hcg in it so after so long not taking it couldn’t have affected a pregnancy test either. Such a surprise to have done this naturally after 2.5 years of trying. Xxx
