Met with the Dr today to understand why our first icsi cycle failed. She mentioned that our 4BB embroyo was very good quality it’s just there is a 50/50 chance it implants. They have analysed my results/tests and decided I should do IVF Lite next. Anyone done this! Any tips? Thanks so much ladies xx looking to go again early next year

Follow up consultation has given me some hope
No advice about IVF Lite I'm afraid (is it sugar free? - sorry, sorry!!) but I just wanted to say how good it is to see your positive outlook and to wish you all the best for the next time round xxx
Thank you so much means a lot the sugar comment made me chuckle xx
I’m glad your consultation has given you renewed hope to move forward with your treatment. I’m imagining IVF lite involves less medication. I’m sure someone else will know for sure.
Very best of luck for the New Year xx
That’s exactly right. Less intrusive & reduced medication. Are you taking any prenatal meds? I am taking folic acid but want to try and boost on as many vitamins as possible? I have got the husband on wellman and vit c xx
Hi Elle
Sorry to hear of your bFN but I’m glad you have some reassurance from your follow up consultation.
Yes it can be a numbers game but tjat doesn’t mean there aren’t things you or the clinic can do to possibly increase chances /review things.
I’ve never heard of ivf lite throughout my own journey or literature /forums I have used.
It sounds more like a name they have given for their procedure at your clinic (like a brand) or they are using it to suggest that the next cycle will be a lighter/shortened/less intense version of ivf.
It depends on whether you have embryos spare/frozen?
If yes- it may mean you are going for a frozen embryo transfer where they thaw the spare embryo and implant in a much less intensive process (hence ‘lite’)
If no spare embryos then you will have to go through a fresh cycle again- with poss icsi again- but they may do a short cycle IVf rather than the long down regging procedure.
It’s difficult to advise you as you haven’t provided much information about your or your partners fertility and health issues and what tests etc they have done so far.
However seeing your previous post it sounds as if you were spotting before OTD (=official test day) in your cycle.
If they give you enough progesterone you should not bleed before testing day.
So I would encourage you to ask them to review and increase your progesterone to help your chances- this will help with implantation and lining after transfer
Good luck x
Thanks so much for your reply xx yes it’s less intrusive and lower dosage of meds. Speaking to Dr yesterday it was a male factor but also maybe my egg quality was also a factor too but nothing they are too concerned about as dr was really pleased with the quality of the sperm it actually shocked her so that comment came as a surprise to me and hubby 😂
We didn’t have anything to freeze so we are back to the beginning. Also the IVF Lite is about collecting fewer eggs so roughly 6-8 but that the quality will be there so let’s see got to give it another do as first time it doesn’t always work. Got to remain positive xx
Ahh good to hear. We were told sperm was so low/slow too but on day of egg collection he produced a ‘perfect’ sample lol. That’s brilliant as takes longer to improve sperm quality.
Would def look at improving egg quality in the meantime- it really can make quite a difference and very easy to sort out- and you have enough time.
Good luck with your next round 🙂
I think they’re right; sometimes despite our best efforts and best embryos it just comes down to plain old luck. No experience of lite ivf but good luck with it xx
I agree xx thank you so much. Will keep your posted x
