Follow up consultation -Adenemyosis

I finally had my follow up consultation yesterday. I actually had my husband with me really does help. It’s the first time he’s been in with me for any appointment. I came out all down and negative and he was super positive … so it was nice for him to be able to reinterpret how I heard some information 🙈

The long story short is , the last protocol did actually get me pregnant (missed miscarried at 6 weeks) so we are going to try again, may tweak the protocol slightly . That’s to be confirmed .

But first she wants me to have a scan to check for fibroids etc and I’m also going for thrombophilia screen blood test, which you normally do with recurrent miscarriage but as it’s just a blood test I said I’d like to just get it done anyways. No harm in knowing and it’s not an operation or anything invasive!!

On a positive note, although only 3 eggs mature last time, the quality was top grade and had improved lots since my first cycle so this is good 🤞motivates me to stay of the vino 🙈

I was hoping to start day 21 this cycle but for various reasons she advised to delay it a month but one of those reasons been that I’m getting my second covid jab this week. This is just her opinion and not proven but she has noticed that it has messed up or delayed cycles in a number of her ivf patients.

Regarding me ever getting pregnant and staying pregnant, my main issue seems to be that I have multiple areas of adenemyosis and I have endometriosis also. The adenemyosis is something that makes me fear the worst , that I may never be able to bypass it. Has anyone got any positive stories . Is there still hope?

Xxx

It really helps when you’re trying to take in a lot of info and having to then relay it back to your partner. xxx

Hi I have adenomyosis and have had 3 miscarriages all conceived naturally and miscarriage early in the pregnancy I never saw a heart beat and it always starts with brown spotting so after the 3 miscarriages and 5 Ivf icsi transfer I was diagnosed with adenomyosis I was then placed on artificial menopause for 3 months and treated I got pregnant on my 2nd transfer after the treatment and had my daughter at the age of 39/6

I also have adenomyosis. Had two miscarriages at 7 weeks before diagnosis.

Had the 12 weeks down regulation on Prostap 3 then used my last embryo FET.

Currently 9DP now and looks like it’s failed.

Sweethear did you have a FET as your second try after treatment or need to make more eggs?

My worry is I now have no embryos and may need to go through the chemical menopause down regulation again which I found hell 😭

Just hoping the adenomyosis has not grown back through this FET on oestrogen!

Sweethear. Thanks for the reply.

So your starting a new cycle of stimulation this month? Did you not have to have the Prostap again?

I am 9DP5DT FET and negative on FRER sensitive test. Doing a blood hcg tomorrow to be absolutely certain but looks like it’s failed.

I got diagnosed with adenomyosis, and after 3 months of prostap, which causes a false menopause to shrink endo and adenomyosis, I had a double transfer last week. Once I was officially diagnosed my IVF doctor was happy because it’s completely treatable in terms of IVF. I’m currently on my TWW and trying to keep positive, OTD next Monday! X

Good luck with your TWW.

I am 9DP5DT now after Prostap. Negative tests 🙁

I have no embryos left. Really hoping I don’t have to go through Prostap again if I make more.

Did they say that to you after the Prostap?

I’ve never had prostab suggested to me. I was taking the contraceptive pill for 21 days before my last cycle , I did get pregnant with that cycle. I think she mentioned oestrogen for this cycle? I have yet to get my protocol and meds confirmed. Thank you to everyone that replied to me.

So sorry it did not work. It depends on how severe the adenomyosis is they might ask you to do MRI scan to see if it is worse or not before moving forward I know it is hell doing the treatment but if it will help you get pregnant then you have no choice but to do it. I did it 3 times already the fist 2 times was with injections every 28 days for 3 to 4 months which was hell a lot of hot flashes and miserable but the last 1 was with daily pills for 3 months and I did not have any side effects but this time am doing fresh cycle and am not taking any drugs because the adenomyosis looks the same and my doctor is not saying anything about taking drugs for it

My doctor told me if I need to do another round I probably won’t need to do prostap for as long because it’s completely shrunk down and won’t grow back that quickly. But if I need to take prostap again I wouldn’t hesitate because having a baby is worth it. X

That’s good news.

My 3 months was hell. The worst day and night sweats. Brain fog. Insomnia. Horrible 3 months x

Zeebee14 in reply toHallj10

Yeah it wasn’t nice, I had hot sweats day and night as well, which kept me awake at night so I was tired and groggy during the day. Really hope it was worth it! 5 days to go until I find out….. 🤞

Hi i have adeno and endo. Ive had 4 miscarriages from natural pregnancies and usually start spotting in week 5 (though not spotting or bleeding with no4, still going through it). Anyway what i wanted to say is, clearly one can get pregnant with adeno but sustaining it seems the issue for me (but that may be due to poor eggs). The nurses at the hospital say they often see adeno in pregnant women so that sometimes gives me hope. If i dont give up and have the strength to go through ivf again, i would definitely down regulate for the 3 months before hand to shrink the adeno. Good luck xx
