First period after surgery myomectomy

I’m wondering if anyone can shed some light on first period after Open myomectomy, I’ve had my first one in 6 weeks today, I’m 5 weeks post op. My period is very heavy and I’m passing large clots I’m really panicking that surgery hasn’t worked and my fibroid was never the cause of my failed implantations. I don’t know whether passing large clots is part of the recovery or there’s something else under lying condition such as endometriosis. My consultant has never raised concerns about endo only my fibroid? Does anyone have an expierience xx

Hi I had an open mycomectomy about 15 years ago now but still remember my first period as it was sooo heavy and clotty! So sorry to hear you are going through it too!

I think it’s normal but if not the good news is I survived and my smaller fibroids actually have grown really slowly since and I am on second round of ivf with fibroids being the least of my worries

To put it into context at the time I had six removed the largest being 10cm and a couple 5cm

Thank you so much for your reply ! It’s calmed down abit this evening but was awful this afternoon I was passing very large clots, my partner just seems to think it’s what’s left over from the surgery sorry for the TMI I hope it is, they think my fibroid was the cause of my failed ivfs so I’m praying now it’s gone things will be much more straight forward! I only had the 1 fibroid submucosal about the size of a fist, all the best to you for round 2 !! Xxxxxxxx
