Over medicating for thyroid?

Anyone found out they were taking too much levothyroxine for a thyroid issue and found they have shortness of breath with a very strong heartbeat? Have been looked over by the doctor today and had full bloods done so am waiting for results. Interested to know peoples’ experience... I’m convinced it’s linked x

That sounds scary. I am so sorry to read this. Hopefully it was worth it and the thyroid thing fixed. Xx

Thanks. I don’t know if I’m right at the moment as haven’t had the blood test results back but I think it’s that. Obviously I could be totally wrong. Just to add to everything else going on at the mo!! Xx

Hello, yes I have been on this for my last 2 cycles and they double the dose if I do get pregnant, definitely found palpatations and suffer from a scallop tongue when they change dosage, you need to do thyroid bloods every weeks, also natural supplements can intervene too, takes a while to get dosage right so hang on in there as it's crucial your balanced for Fertility, hope this helps

You have them done every week? Interesting. I’ve just miscarried and I’m paranoid that it was because I had problems with my thyroid. I actually don’t think this was the case but I’m still really worried x

I think you are on too much levothyroxine. My understanding is that palpitations are a warning signal and not normal. What are your blood test results? When I was trying to conceive my clinic wanted the level below 2.5 (tsh I think). Low is good for getting pregnant. Too high can cause problems conceiving, but I don't think you should be on so much that you have palpitations. The range that they want in the different trimesters varies slightly. If you get pregnant I can dig out the levels that they want mine to be at. I was expecting to have to take more levothyroxine but have not had to adjust my dose as my blood levels are OK.

Yes I think I might be on too much too. My TSH was at 0.89 when I conceived and then they weren’t taken subsequently. I have to wait 7 days for the current results to come back so we’ll see. Thanks for your message and your input x
