I have endometriosis and was told by my first doctor just forget about it and get a donor egg. I followed my gut and changed doctors - I just had 3 cycles with 3 blastocyst and 2 fertilized day 3. I mean I don’t know how successful it will be, but my doctor literally told me I have 0% chance - no follicles, low ovarian reserve
‘’You need to use donor eggs ‘’and all I could do was stare at the doctor and allow my husband do the talking,,, I will wait till Monday and if no changes ,,I will probably change doctor too..thanks for responding.i wish you luck
I haven't been through this Emma -so sorry you've hit this wall 😢. It might turn out ok for this cycle still, if they're increasing the dose? Either way, it sounds like the consultant could have broken the bad news a bit better ... I know they have to be matter of fact about things but sometimes their words can just slay you. A bit of bedside manner helps a lot! 😢 xx
My doctor told me via phone - I couldn’t believe it. We really don’t know in the end if it’s true or accurate because every cycle is different. I would do my due diligence and get to the best doctor possible if you have the means. Also have faith! I’m implementing this and praying every day!
Don't give up, I have stage 4 endo and I had a cancelled cycle for a laparoscopy to remove a tube, then despite being on prostap for three months my lining was still too thick to start again. It's such a long wait for everything but you'll get there. Just keep going for your scans and even though it feels like you aren't getting anywhere remember you're started and even if they are finding out what doesn't work for your body that's sonething. Everyone reacts differently but I'm now at 12 weeks so it can work xxxx
Is it the long protocol or the short (antagonist) protocol they have you on? I have endometriosis and lower AMH and used the short protocol with Meriofert instead of Menopur and did respond to it. It took us 4 years for me to get pregnant but IVF was successful in the end. There may be other options before going to DE. Hang in there xx
So sorry to hear this Emma. I wasn’t in the exact same situation but didn’t have a good response to Menopur the first time and switched to Gonal-f for subsequent cycles. Might be worth asking about instead?
Hi Emma, I didn’t respond well on my first round. My consultant suggested changing from menopur to gonal f. She also changed my protocol from long to short. She also suggested using DHEA for three months before my next round. I also did acupuncture for three months before and throughout my second round.
I was convinced we would need to use donor eggs but the changes meant my second round was much better. Although I am still not pregnant, we had two good quality embryos where as the first round we had nothing to transfer.
It is definitely worth looking into changing protocol. I was considered a low responder round one and ‘normal’ round two. I know how absolutely devastating it is to have such a difficult first round but there is still hope.
Awww sweetie it’s rubbish when things like that happen. I had the same kind of thing on our first round. I ended up with 1 egg and it didn’t fertilise. We started again yesterday after an 8 month break and a higher dose. All I can do is hope. As can you. Lots of love xxxxx
Hi... I started on 225 of Bemfola. Zero follicles found in our first scan. They upped my meds to 350 and although we only got four eggs and one embryo, I'm currently just short of 10 weeks pregnant. I was on stims for ages to get there. Don't give up hope. You only need one embryo so you clearly need a higher dose to get kick started. Keep the faith xx
I haven't been through exactly the same but last time I did ivf I started in 225 and after the first week had some but limited response so they upped my dosage to 300 and I ended up extending my Stims by an extra 4/5 days to get the right length of follicle. I had 8 eggs from that egg collection
