I just met with my doctor after my 7th embryo transfer from donor eggs failed. Now I have 5 embryos remaining which she let me know are poor quality - two day 5 4CB embryos, a day 6 4BC and two day 6 4CC embryos. My doctor advised that I thaw and PGT test my embryos before doing another transfer stating that they may all be abnormal or I may have some that are normal and transferring those would make more sense. I'm just worried that I may lose my embryos with the thawing and biopsy process because they are such poor quality. I will add that if I choose not to PGT test them - she will let me do a double embryo transfer next and us giving me a possible success rate of 40% untested and 50 to 60% if tested and euploid. Did anyone test their poor quality embryos and have a good outcome? I'm so afraid that I will lose them all.

Should I PGT test poor quality embryos?

I had a poor quality embryo last cycle (the only one that made it to day 6 out of 12 fertilized eggs). We debated testing it before freezing and glad we did. It was euploid. We have not transferred it yet tho as we are using those better grade ones first. Sorry not much of help maybe but I'll go with what your doctor recommends given your specific circumstances. Wishing you all the best xx

Ji. They could even be slow starters. Have another chat with your specialist, and if he;she agrees with testing, them i wish you both well. Make sure your Fallopian tubes are ok and not at risk of leaking toxic fluid into the womb and possibly preventing a developing embryo from implanting. Hope all works out well. Diane
Hi Meliana, I’m really sorry to hear 7 DE have failed. Were they all BFNs or did you have chemicals too?
Given you have had multiple failed FETs, personally I would test the 5 remaining embryos. I would first have a chat with the embryologist - not your consultant - about the chances of the embryos surviving the thawing and re-freezing process.
Has your consultant recommended any additional tests for recurrent implantation failure? Perhaps you’ve had them all already, but at this stage I just wouldn’t leave any stone unturned.
Wishing you all the best whatever you decide to do! ☺️
I would 100% test if it was me, saves you the heartbreak xx
Hello my lovely! I had 4 "perfect" day 5 AA embryos tested and 3 out of them came back abnormal and the euploid one didn't implant. I then had 2 poor quality C grade embryos PGT tested and only one came back eupolid and that little one is now my son ! After a late loss in the second trimester and 4 early miscarriages, I just wanted to avoid more heartache, so for me testing them was the best decision ever! But doctor told me my C embryo had the letter C from champion😊 and sometimes it is the lowest quality embryos that work ❤️❤️❤️. Good luck with everything xxxx
hello, as you have five embryos, I would definitely test so that you are not transferring the non-viable ones first. I believe the benefits outweigh the risks in this case. If they don’t survive the thawing process then this might have happened anyway when you were due to do the transfer. As others have mentioned though, I would ask about implantation failure as 7 failed DE transfers seems like it’s worth looking at whether you have this issue. Hopefully it’s not that but worth looking into. I wish you all the best!
Grading is a beauty contest.. it tells you absolutely nothing about genetic make up. Grading is also very subjective so if one embryologist has graded an embryo a 4CC, another embryologist could grade it a 4BB.
My friend has just sent 5 embryos for pgta.. her best graded one was the only one that was abnormal. The clinic would have transferred that first & there’s no way it would have implanted.
It saves you so much heartache and also money doing pgta xx There’s no way I would ever do another blind transfer xx
