Worried about low progesterone levels on day of transfer

Hello ladies!

I had a transfer yesterday morning and the clinic also checked my progesterone levels which turned out to be low(30). I have been taking cyclogest 800mg since Monday but have now also been advised to inject Prontogest 100mg daily.

Have any of you been in a similar situation and what type of medication were you prescribed? Prontogest, Lubion? I'm worried I won't get my levels up and that this will risk implantation not happening.

Any advice/comments appreciated

x

It’s interesting that your clinic check progesterone levels at this stage. Mine don’t. It sounds like they’re doing everything to make sure your levels are fine, especially with extra drugs. Try not to worry, it sounds like you’re in good hands xx

Thank you Tugsgirl! xx

My first two transfers my clinic abroad check progesterone and estrogen levels every three days but not o day of transfer. First round the progesterone was fairly steady and above uk levels. Second round it was all over the place. I asked my uk clinic why they didn’t test and she said because progesterone levels fluctuate so much throughout the day which makes sense as first time bloods taken at same time second round taken at various times of the day. Don’t worry about it if it was important the uk would test too xx good luck xx

I’m having my transfer tomorrow and will also have it tested. My last clinic didn’t check it. I’m taking Crinone pessaries twice a day, Lentogest injections twice a week and Progynova 3 times a day. I’m sure your levels will go up quickly and I think it’s greats it’s been checked so can be rectified. Good luck x

Thanks Kari and good luck tomorrow! xx I'm on Progynova 3 times a day as well. I'm being re-tested on Tuesday so hopefully my progesterone will have gone up by then.

My clinic didn’t test my progesterone levels at time of transfer- my first fresh transfer, I bled before test date so I was advised to inject prontogest 100mg daily for the frozen.

It’s not fun but we got a BFP and currently 26 weeks pregnant. Sounds like they are doing as much as possible to ensure a successful pregnancy! Good luck xxx

Sorry to jump in on the post but that’s exactly what happened to me- I bled heavily 6dp5dt... I told them repeatedly I think my progesterone needed upping st the next clinic and they assured me I would not bleed on cyclogest.... I bled the day before OTD.

I’m so upset they didn’t listen because I know that was my biggest issue.

Finally this new consultant listens and suggests alternative treatments but how can they be so thick as not to know this stuff ?!?! It is their day job after all.

I wish they would test progesterone more routinely in UK.

So happy you got your BFp- I’ve been trying to summon the courage to do another frozen FET and cannot face it 😣😣😣😣

I’m sorry that your concerns were not listened to- it’s so hard anyway without that on top. To be fair, the evidence for whether you get more progesterone from the injections is not great but I was happy to try something different.

Have you thought about counselling at all- throughout my journey, having a space to talk about my feelings was really helpful for and made the process a lot calmer ( especially with all the delays and waiting around at the clinic).

You have lots of courage- you just have to do this process when it is right for you xxxx

I find this forum is my counselling lol. Although I’ve kept a low profile over the summer.

Came on here last night to find some encouragement and hope and received it 🙂

Thank you xx

Hi there andromedae9, just read your post after searching about progesterone levels. I really fought for a progesterone test this morning after my transfer, mainly because I too started bleeding before test date on the last transfer. How did you get on? Did you continue testing the progesterone level throughout the 2ww? I’m taking cyclones twice a day and progynova 3x. Not sure if you will have tested yet...but wishing you a BFP xxx

Hi Mannjj

Thank you! Unfortunately I got a BFN this morning. So gutted. They have asked me to test again after another 48h as I haven't started to bleed yet but don't have much hope.

I never retested the progesterone as the nurses said the prontogest injection that I started taking after I found out that the levels were low works really quickly.

Otherwise I was on the same as you Cyclogest twice a day and Progynova x3.

Wishing you a BFP as well.

Xx

Oh I’m really sorry to read that. This whole thing is just so crap isn’t it. I hope the best for you and if not, then the strength to carry on... thanks for your reply. X

My clinic cancelled the transfer and I’m having a fet because progesterone levels were too high! Glad they’re trying to get it right and 🤞 you can go ahead with the fresh cycle!

Hi Newqgirl

Sorry to hear you had to cancel your fresh transfer but the clinic just want to give you the best chance for it to work. They should really monitor the progesterone up until transfer.

Yes, I can't remember that they actually checked my progesterone last time I had a transfer (and I'm with the same clinic) and far from all UK clinics do this apparently. I feel like I'm in quite good hands!
