Hi roxywhite28. This is never easy, and I am certain that you are doing everything that you can to lose weight, but whatever you are doing, whether at a slimming club or on your own, make sure that you are keeping a record of your losses, however small, so that you can prove you are trying. A practice nurse at your GP practice would weigh you and keep a record too, if you don’t want to join a slimming club. Swimming, if possible, is good too. If you can afford to attend one of these fitness centres, then speak to one of the advisors. He/she will be able to help you with your diet requirements and also the correct exercising that you require.

I know from experience how hard it was for me, but got there eventually. Obviously, I wish you well with this, and hope you are soon at your required BMI to achieve a pregnancy. Thinking of you. Diane

I used an online app for a slimming club (not sure I can mention the name due to advertising rules). It helps keep track of what you are eating. It’s important to weigh your portions otherwise you may not keep track properly. The app has a “Facebook” equivalent for people to share recipe ideas etc which is helpful.

To lose weight you have to eat less calories- it doesn’t normally work with exercise alone. It’s really hard to do by yourself so would definitely recommend looking into meetings or apps. I tried my fitness pal but because it tracks fruit and veg, I always went over my calories for the day and I would get disheartened. Good luck!

Totally agree with Diane - it's never easy, no matter what your motivation for losing weight is. I had to lose 4 stone before we could go for IVF - it took me a year, but managed it and I'm now on my 2ww!

I did it in probably a bit of an extreme way, so appreciate it wouldn't be for everyone, but I was at the gym 4x a week with 1 session with a personal trainer. Kept my diet to 1400 calories a day, mixture of food in there to keep it balanced, but had to do slimfast for the last 3 months so that we could speed things up for the last stone and a half.

Whatever you decide to do, definitely keep track of what you're doing, I found my fitbit really helpful just to keep on top of what I'd done, and it was always nice to have a record of what I'd achieved!

I'm still technically overweight (BMI is just 30), but compared to where I was hopefully our chances are increased- I can only wish you the very best of luck, and hope you find something that works for you, and enables you to go for what you want! xxxx

I found that there are a few tricks to losing weight :

- eat real food and really avoid everything processed

- look at labels and bear an mind that 4g sugar is 1 teaspoon of sugar, you shouldn’t exceed more than 4 teaspoons a day

- eat protein and good fats (full fat yoghurt, kefir, eggs, avocado, olive oil, organic grass-fed meet, wild salmon, nuts and seeds)

- drink only water or herbal teas (juices and fizzy drinks are big no-no)

- get very good at cooking (I got inspiration from That sugar film, Bulletproof, Hemsley Hemsley, Madeleine Shaw, various Paleo blogs)

I used to be a sugar addict but after a few weeks I completely stopped having cravings and discovered how wonderful real food can taste. I now create healthy treats too which are delicious. I have lost weight as a side effect of healthy eating and I have not looked back since. If I could do it, you definitely can 💪 It won’t happen overnight as it’s a process of learning and discovering but it is a great fun and benefits are well worth it. Good luck 🍀

Ive lost 2 and a half stone since January so you can do this!!

I cut out carbs, made my portions smaller and made sure I went for a walk 5 times a week.

I challenged myself with longer harder walks too. Sometimes at the weekend I would walk for miles and have myself a target place to go, I would then get my partner to pick me up. I left my car further away from work so I had to walk further to fetch it too. It was fun in the end making new challenges.

Lots of water to stay fuller for longer too. And only snack on healthy things. Make sure you check the carb amounts on foods it’s surprising how much is in some ‘healthy’ labelled foods. Keep your intake to 30g or less.

Good luck keep us posted with progress xx

In the last 5 weeks I've lost over half a stone (since Aug 2017 I've had 2 ivf cycles and put on a stone and a half) by cutting out processed foods, eating lost of fruit and veg and protein. I've eaten minimal carbs. I've been walking lots and not eating after 4pm. I would normally eat dinner around 7pm - 8pm and I really don't think this was helping me. Looks like you've had so me good responses and good luck xx
