Does anyone else take vitamin d? I take my daily dose of folic acid but been advised by a family member doctor to take vitamin d. Just starting my 3rd FET with my prostap injection being last Thursday and thought I would start taking it but thought I would ask everyone’s thoughts?

Yes, it’s recommended especially in winter. Seven seas do a prenatal supplement which has the recommended dose of vit d and folic acid combined.

Yes. I’ve been prescribed my folic acid because I have to have a high dose but they told me the only other thing I need to take is vitamin D xx

I got prescribed higher dose folic acid and vitamin d by my GP once I was pregnant, the folic acid just for the first 12 weeks and the vitamin d for my whole pregnancy. I’d just tipped the scales into the obese camp for BMI (blob on 30), was sooooo lucky I’d been under when I started treatment as it was NHS....if I’d known then what I know now I’d of worked harder to keep it off! (Less meds and appointments, got extra one for a risk lecture and another long one for a glucose tolerance test, they are not fun!). I’d take the recommendation and start taking it, apparently a lot of people in the UK are deficient and we should all be taking it 😊

Yes, I was advised to take folic acid and vitamin D3

Xx

Yes- I take vitamin D and folic acid (it’s included in my pregnancy/conception supplement). As a GP I recommend that everyone take vitamin D in England (unless you have parathyroid or specific bone conditions). Most people are low in vitamin D.

Would you say continue taking vitamin supplement throughout pregnancy.... I stopped 2-3 weeks ago now 😬

in reply to destiny121

It’s a personal choice. I would recommend continuing with vitamin D especially if you’re thinking about trying breastfeeding . I’m still taking my supplements at 24 weeks but I am not as religious as I was for the first 12 weeks. Boots often have a 3 for 2 on them. Don’t beat yourself up either way though- as long as you are eating a good diet xx

I should add it’s to help with your bones as well as baby’s bone formation amongst many other things- vitamin D is thought to be involved in lots of receptors for different hormones. X

My clinic also recommended to take vitamin D. I buy drops with K2 (helps to absorb vit D) from NutriAdvanced. X
