My clinic has not advised me to take vitamin D but someone else I know undergoing ivf has been advised to take it. It got me thinking. ..

Founds reports that have said women who have higher levels of vitamin D are twice as likely to have ivf success than those that are deficient. Also says better quality eggs.

Anyone else taking vitamin D and had success? Needless to say I'm on the vitamin D pronto!

I was advised to only take the levels in things such as Pregnacare and not to self medicate in terms of the vitamins.. my consultant said these pre-packaged ones have all that you need and you don't want to overdose on anything x

Thanks for sharing this, I think it’s so important. As per my previous post I was taking ‘normal’ dose of vitamin D in pregecare supplement. I did get BFP after my second cycle ( FET ) but unfortunately had a miscarriage. New consultant asked me to get checked for vitamin D. Vitamin D deficiency can apparently contribute towards miscarriage. My results come back as deficient. I’m now on a prescription dose of it. I’m so low at the moment following lots of family bereavements and work stresses the doc said deficiency also has an impact on our mood. So I believe vitamin d should be a standard check before we all start IVF. We get checked for everything else, I am unsure why this isn’t checked as standard. Unless it is, and I was just not checked in error.

My reflexologist said that one fertility clinic in Leeds, won’t perform IVF treatment if vitamin D is not sufficient. It is apparently very important and influential.

My clinic tells everyone to take quite a high lever vitamin d supplement (I use a spray, apparently it’s more easily absorbed that way).

It’s one of things that many clinics seem to take a different approach with which I always find a bit frustrating! X

I also use a spray from Revital it's got a green sticker and is 3000mg per spray. Minty flavour. How much do you take per day? Did you have a blood test first to determine how much you should take?

It might be the same one but mine is a gross artificial orange flavour! Same dose though and no I’ve not had my levels tested

I got my vit d, b12, and iron tested an online blood testing company as I was feeling so exhausted the months after my miscarriage and they were all low bordering on deficiency, after that i took high-ish doses 1000 of vit d and b12 and liquid iron and I felt better. I've had a good round of IVF (so far) but it's impossible to say if it's anything to do with supplements or acupuncture or just simple luck.

Still it's worth getting them checked out for sure. My clinic haven't specified how much to take but recommend folic acid and vit d to everyone...

When I went through ivf I took pregnacare, which contains folic acid, vit d amongst others. My clinic were very encouraging of taking a prenatal supplement and I had success with my second transfer from my one and only egg retrieval.

Definitely take it. It won't do any harm. You can get simple folic acid, vit d and vit c supplements from boots for a reasonable amount.

Best of luck with your cycle.

I’ve been taking the Zita West vitamin D oral spray for several weeks now, before transfer, during 2WW and still now in my first trimester. Been doing Reflexology and my reflexologist highly recommend vitamin D supplements and told me how important vitamin D is to fertility. According to her, a lot of people in the UK, are vitamin deficient. They used to put it in margarine to ensure people had it, but no one really eats margarine nowadays. Xx
