Feeling lucky

I’ve reached the end of my 2WW and I tested this morning (5am wake up call for wee panic stations!).

I feel lucky as I have had the supportive research and shared stories to read over the last 6 weeks of my IVF treatment of people on here.

The 2WW has been hard, it has made both me and my husband evaluate what our priorities are if the result is positive or negative. Turns out that we both were quite realistic and we made some really good plans if it turned out this treatment (my first IVF at age 43 years old) ended in no baby.

We took a 6 day holiday (in the Isle of Wight) for the end of the 2WW which was excellent fun and an added bonus was 6 days felt like a month because of the ups and downs of the 2WW) and I’d recommend that to anyone to get a short break turned into a really long holiday!

Over the course of the holiday I started to notice spotting (6dp3dt onwards), bloating, fatigue at 3pm most days, I got scared as I got a bit hopeful, despite knowing that these were also symptoms of my twice daily cyclogest pessaries...

The test result this morning? Not pregnant.

I’m trying to turn it round to a positive, so please share if you have any hot tips for doing this (and I will follow clinics advice and retest in 2 days time).

Thank you for being there. X

Oh wow. It's so hard isn't it. You are so brave and strong for posting so soon after your result. I really hope the result changes in 2 days. Sending you huge hugs xxx

It looks like you used your own eggs for this IVF? How many eggs were collected? Do you have any on ice? What was your lining thickness at transfer? Xx

Wow you are so brave! More brave than I was and probably most women! I'm sorry for your BFN as I know it hurts. But sounds like your incredibly strong and I hope you can pick yourself back up and carry on should result not change 💖 All the best for your journey xxx

No tips Im afraid, I think that just planning a treat for ourselves has always been something that we have done and to spend some quality time together....4 negatives later we are still fighting! Take some time to gather your strength. Big hugs.xx

No tips. Only time. It’s raw for a while. I think despite your bad news this is a lovely and quite positive post. Sorry for your bfn xx

What an encouraging post despite your BFN - you are obviously a positive person and I hope that makes this easier for you. Be prepared to feel sad though too and keep taking it easy and cutting yourself slack when you need it. Time changes it, it doesn't necessarily get better but different I guess and more manageable. All the best x

KEndo I’m really sorry to hear of your negative. I’m 40 and we’ve just had our 3rd cycle and I’m now in the 2WW. I completely understand your positioning. You really want to be realistic and plan for both scenarios. This is what I’m trying to do as well. It’s really hard when it’s negative and you and your body have been through so much. Eventually and I recommend slowly we pick ourselves up, let yourself grieve and figure out the next steps. Big hugs to you and I wish you so much success in your journey for the future. 😘😘
