It’s not painful at all. I bit like a smear test. They just trial passing a very thin catheter through to your cervix. It’s so they can check that there won’t be any difficulty on the day x
It’s not painful at all! Similar to a smear test. Just to feel things out, check the position of the uterus and what size implements to use etc can’t remember when it needs to be done but I don’t think timing matters too much for a trial run. No needles and it’s nice to know what to expect on the actual day so you feel less anxious x
Thank you for your reply, they’ve said today I can’t do it until after my next day 1 so I wondered if they could do it around the time of the scans pre egg collection rather than postponing my treatment another month.
I’ve asked thank you. Fingers crossed all goes ok, I had images of being stabbed in my nether regions with a sharp instrument lol so I’m glad you are all saying it’s not painful. I can cope with the egg collection because they’ll knock me out xx
That’s interesting, my clinic do it the same month. It’s good that they are offering it- mine showed up problems (wonky cervix) and I ended up being sedated for ET and having the clinic medical director do it. I was glad they checked before the real day.
My clinic don’t let hubbie be in there if you’re sedated, and recovery obviously much longer- I would do it au natrel if at all possible. See if you can cope with the trial x
Have you ever had an hsg, scratch or iui? If so a trial might not be necessary. It's only to ensure there are no issues inserting the catheter, so if you've had any of these procedures with no problem then you may not need the trial. Xx

My clinic wanted to do one on me until I'd reminded them about my iui x
