I am due to start IVF this month but today i have been seeing a lot of posts about IUI. I had never heard of this the doctor hadnt mentioned it. I have low AMH but still have regular cycles each month. Could someone please help me out as to why they might not have mentioned it. Seems similar than IVF, bit confused x

Hi, I’ve had IUI and now getting ICSI. Wish I hadn’t wasted my time with IUI. I have unexplained infertility. When getting IUI I had a follicle on my scab at the start of the treatment and they wouldn’t start it. Then I over stimulated with 7 and couldn’t get it. Made me a nervous wreck and was really worried about starting ICSI. Nothing like each other and I’ve had no cause for my ICSI to go ahead. Really regret wasting a long time with IUI x
I know. I just thought well I will try IUI first because it’s like more chances. It just wasn’t for me. It obvs works for some but not got a great success rate x
We were advised IUI has quite a low success rate so we opted to go straight to IVF. Really happy we did as at my age I didn't have time and also IUI wasn't funded on NHS.
IUI works for some people....hope people that have tried it give you personal experience.
We were offered IUI before our first round of ivf but because I was 37 we didn't bother. I think our consultant told us it was like 5% chance of working at my age. Glad we didn't waste our time with it though. We had 2 icsi cycles, both worked. Now 27 weeks with twins from second cycle. Good luck in whatever you decide xx
