Rash/red skin from Buserelin

Hi all,

I just did my first Buserelin injection and immediately came up with a mottled red area, around two 50p pieces wide.

The area itself feels really warm and just....weird!!! I was so focused on getting past the actual injection part, I hadn't given much thought to the after effects!

Does this go away, or can I expect this every time? Eeek!!!!! :(

Not looking forward to adding the Menopur, which seems much thicker in consistency.... Would be great to see how everyone else is going with Buserelin. Thanks in advance!

xxx

Hello bec_83. The same happens to me so don’t worry. I’m on my 3rd cycle now and it still happens but not as bad as when I first started. Mine go red and look like a nettle sting and feel quite itchy but after a while they fade. I think the Menopur is loads better than the Buserelin! Hope all goes well for you xx

Thanks - yes exactly like a nettle sting! It's been about an hour now and the redness has definitely faded so that's good. xx

Hiya bec, it is normal and I’m still getting the reaction the same, I was told to rub the area afterwards and it does help with the itch a bit. Only lasts for about 20 mins x

Thank you! I did end up gently rubbing it a bit which did help xx

I got this too. It helped to inject very very slowly and I found it was better to inject in my stomach rather than my thigh. I read somewhere that massaging the area after injecting can help but it didn’t make much difference to me. A couple of times I put ice on it to help it cool down. Menopur didn’t do the same thing. And I didn’t get it everytime!

Hi Lizzie, yes going slower may have helped. I was a bit all over the place with speed! I tried to move it up and down a bit when it was empty to get it unstuck so to speak, but it did still feel like it was sticking a little. Also, I'm only allowed to inject into the belly anyway but good tip for others! :) Ice is a great idea too! thanks xxx
