Hello I'm new to the group and just beginning my journey. My husband is a type 1 diabetic and suffers from retrograde ejaculation. I have had my investigations done in gynae. I've ad blood tests my fsh level is 8.1 and I've just had results of amh blood test which is 24.2 (I'm 35) I've also had scans which I've been told showed nothing out of the ordinary which is good news. My husband has had a couple of appointments in the male fertility clinic and has done his sample and they managed to get what they need for us to have icsi. 7 straws are now frozen and he' been discharged now and its all down to me now (consultants words) We had an appointment with consultant 2 weeks ago where we were told we were eligible to be treated under the NHS and I've had my first fertility appointment come through for 14th June. As yet no one has gone through the treatment with me and I only know what I have read in the information pack, read on forums and through internet research. I'm not sure what to expect in this appointment and what the timescales are likely to be before treatment starts. Any advice and experiences are most welcome.

Icsi advice
In my experience it all happens quite quickly after your first appointment. They go through the process in detail, using your recommended protocol. Then you have another appointment for consent signing, and then phone on a particular day of your cycle (depending on your protocol) to start it all off! Very best of luck to you both xx
Hi. I am currently going through my fourth attempt using icsi. Your first app is to discuss ivf and what protocol will suit you. There is the long and short. I was first put on the long protocol. After this app you will have to sign docs. Then it all depends on your period, as to when you start. ( write down your dates) it is a learning process for you and the ivf team. As they will learn how your body reacts to meds ( everyone is diff)
My advice through all of this is too ask questions if you are not sure, they are there to help. Don't do too much reasearch on the internet as this can sometimes make you worry for no reason. Plan to go away with your partner ( wkend away) something to look forward to at the end of treatment.
I wish you the best of luck! If you want to ask anything else. I'd be happy to try and answer. 😊
Thank you for the advice it's our 10th wedding anniversary on 12th July we were planning a short break then but I am a little worried we may have started treatment by then so may have to put it on hold until it's finished
We had our first fertility appointment mid January, I started treatment pretty much straight away as we needed ICSI due to husbands low count. Here we are 4 months later and I’m currently 10 and a half week pregnant, it all happens so fast once they have all the info they need and you go to that first appointment x good luck x
