Searching for an egg donor...

We have been in a very happy relationship for several years now and like many other couples, we dream of becoming a mum and dad.

Unfortunately, at 33, I was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer which resulted in surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and 10 years of tamoxifen. As any fertility preservation treatment may have made the cancer spread further, I reluctantly listened to my surgeon and went ahead with treatment without any egg freezing.

Now at 36 and three years cancer free, my medical team are supporting a break (18 months maximum) from tamoxifen to enable me to pursue our dream of raising a family.

Unfortunately, after having what seems like a millions tests, we have been given the devastating news that I have premature ovarian failure which means that we have to explore other options of becoming parents.

Undeterred, we have to remain positive ... we just need a little help from someone special to provide the missing piece for our jigsaw.

We are a loving, professional couple based in the north of England - is there anyone out there who can help us and donate an egg?

Hi Jill, I remember your last post about this, and was wondering how you were doing with advertising for a donor?

This forum is very unlikely to produce anything for you, we are mainly all here as we are struggling to start our own families. I will probably be going down donor route later this year. Some people from my clinic who needed ivf due to male factor, have in fact donated their eggs after their own successes, so I guess it’s not a lost cause trying infertility support groups. I wish you lots of luck with your journey xxx

Sorry to hear of your struggles with cancer but well done for beating it! If you contact some fertility clinics they actually have patients that have donated eggs already. I'm actually doing a donor egg cycle out in Athens as it's a bit cheaper than the UK. They match you using your hair colour, height, skin colour etc and more importantly your blood type. Egg donation in the UK is not anonymous so the child can find the donor later in life but in Europe it's anonymous. If I can be of any help them PM me anytime! There are quite a lot of ladies on here doing donor egg cycles. Wishing you good health and luck in your quest to be a family!xx

Hello Jill, what a battle you have had. I’m so sorry. Like Cinderella5 I’ve had donor egg treatment in Greece too. I think you might find it easier to research/speak to clinics that do egg donor IVF as opposed to searching for a donor on this forum. Lots of love and luck to you xx

Hi Jill,How are you? Hope you have great health and enjoy your life. Well, it is very sad news. But I must say that you are very strong women. You face great disease in your life. Fight with your disease and fail it. But the sad news is that now you can not conceive naturally. But ever give up in your life. Life always gives you second chance. Life gives you all those things who you want from it. Through new technologies now you should not need to be worry. You should choose surrogacy in your condition. Surrogacy is the blessing you for you. Also for all those couples who face the medical disease like you. Surrogacy gives you 100% result. And at one time you enjoy the life of your baby in your house. Surrogacy fills your house with happiness and makes your life sweet

Hey dear, Hope you will be fine. Dear you seems to be a brave lady indeed. The way you face all the difficult and long waiting phase of treatment is really appreciatable. You bear all that with patience. Although you might be disheartened many times. But still you managed yourself to try again. And atlast you succeeded to fight with your disease. This all credit goes to your husband and family who supports you. And your will power is worth appreciating.

Dear you should consult a good clinic. If you can’t conceive naturally. Then don’t worry. There are many other ways too. And by adopting any one of that way, you can surely become a mother. Who will surely belongs to you biologically.

Today, many ladies are facing the problem of infertility. Life is the name of challenges. Just face the challenges with such a strong power that everyone appreciates you.

Hello Jill, not being able to use your own eggs is devastating enough without the journey you’ve already been on. We went to Cyprus for our egg donation for speed more than anything and it was a clinic twinned with my hospital in Yorkshire. If you’re in the north, there are other big clinics which do donor egg ivf and some ladies here have used them too. They can advise the best way to find a donor. Best of luck on your journey; happy to give you some thoughts if you want to direct message me xx

hello there! I am so sorry to hear about your loss. it can be really hard for a woman to go through this phase, emotionally. it can break her physically as well. I miss carried twice and will never be able to conceive. it is more painful than it sounds. I always wanted a baby of my own, but my husband's happiness mattered to me more. so we went for surrogacy and I am happy with it. I have a baby boy and he is totally healthy, the feeling is great and I have a complete family, so never lose hope. there is always a chance for you. I hope you find a donor soon, but do consider other options like surrogacy and IVF. stay blessed, thank you.

After failed NHS IVF in 2015 and the discovery that I have premature ovarian failure (at 34), my husband and I underwent treatment at IVI in Málaga using donor eggs. I am now 6 weeks pregnant on our first cycle and we will find out tomorrow at our early scan if its just the one or twins. The process was so fast. From our first consultation in February and signing the release forms it was only 9 days to find a matched donor for me. The waiting lists in the U.K. are so long unless you have a known donor. When time is of the essence, private treatment abroad may be your best bet.
