I’m 6 weeks and 4 days today and this evening I’ve had a little bleed- it’s brown blood. I’ve spoken to the clinic and they’ve said that I need to do a pregnancy test in the morning and not all is lost yet, but I can’t help but think negatively. Anyone else had this and how did it turn out?
*EDIT* I have done a test this morning and it still says ‘Pregnant 3+’ so that’s one good step. I will ring the clinic at 8am to see what they say.
Thank you. Xx

Hello lovely, I had a bleed at 6 weeks and was terrified, but all was ok. My clinic did an early scan at 6 weeks and then again at 7 weeks. Really hope everything works out for you xxxxx
We had our viability scan at 6+2 which was all good, but 6+3, 4, 5 and 7+1 I had brown spotting after wiping. I was terrified as my periods used to start with brown spotting and likewise with the miscarriages.
I was on holiday from 6+4, the clinic said that I could increase the pessaries if I wanted to and that they advised to be a little more easy on physical exercise, intercourse, etc....I didn’t feel like I had previously, so managed to get an EPU referral for a scan at 9+6 and everything was ok.
If the clinic won’t scan you or do blood tests, then maybe try your gp for piece of mind x
I had a bad bleed at 7 weeks and was terrified, it was red and I thought all was over. Went to EPU and they were able to see a baby with a strong heartbeat. Another bleed 2 days later and another scan showed all was fine. I’ve had spotting on and off since then. It’s so hard not to think negatively but you still have lots of hope, especially since it’s a little bit and brown. Try to get a scan to ease your mind xx
I bled from 6 to 13 weeks and I am now 28 weeks tomorrow. I had a couple of scans but they just kept saying baby was strong and they didnt know why the bleeding was happening. Hang in there. Xxx
Sorry to hear you are going through this I know how terrifying it is to see any form of blood in pregnancy.
I have had lots of spotting throughout this pregnancy; between 6-14 weeks. It was mainly brown but at 10 weeks I had fresh blood with clots. I’m now coming up 32 weeks. The midwife told me as long as I wasn’t having severe abdominal pain with heavy bleeding ( like filling pads every hour or so) not to worry as many women will have spotting ( ie only see blood when you wipe) most will be okay. Usually pain is the first indication of a impending miscarriage ( that’s what the midwife told me) I was told to rest up by the GP & was signed off work. Hopefully your clinic will arrange an early scan at the early pregnancy unit to put your mind at rest ( I couldn’t rest until I saw everything was okay!) Keep us updated will be thinking of you xoxo
Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your experience.
I’ve just rang the clinic so I’m waiting for a nurse to ring me back to see if there is anything to do. 🤞🤞🤞 I hope they will give me an early scan to put my mind at ease! Xx
Hope all work out ok for you, its so scary not knowing what is going on! I see lots of ladies had bleeding and were fine, also the fact that its brown blood is much better than bright red. Hopefully the clinic will offer to do a scan or a couple of hCG bloods 48 hrs apart to check your levels are ok! Good luck & thinking of you!xx
It’s helped a lot reading all these positive messages, but it’s still a worry! I’m on my way for a blood test now, and another Thursday to check levels are rising as they should. Xx
I bled from 6 weeks to 10 or 11 weeks can’t remember now. My doc increased progesterone by adding injectable progesterone to my pessaries. Do not know if this helped but around 12 weeks bleeding stopped and it worked out for us. I hope it’s nothing to be worried about
At 10 weeks I had fresh blood with clots and was rushed to the hospital. I found out I had a SCH which caused me to spot and bleed for the next six weeks or more. I now have healthy 3 month twin girls. Hope everything works in your favor.
Aww that’s a brilliant story. Thank you. I’m sure your twins are keeping you on your toes! Enjoy every minute with them! I’ve got my fingers crossed! 🤞🤞 xx
I had almost the same a couple of weeks ago except mine was red blood which is apparently worse than brown. I thought all was lost but when I went for my scan a week later (longest week of my life) all was well. My only advice would be take it as easy as possible and rest. My doc signed me off for a week and I put my feet up and did as little as possibke. I was so relieved but am still anxious. I think I will be until this baby is in my arms. I hope yours is also okay too, am crossing everything for you. Have you booked an early scan? I had mine at my local hospital's early pregnancy unit. They were so lovely.
Thank you. I hope you continue to have a smooth pregnancy!! They’ve done bloods today and will again on Thursday to check the levels but they won’t bring my scan forward. I have to wait until next Wednesday for that! It will be the longest week! Xx
You will be fine, just think positively. If your own reassurance if you want you can also get in touch with your early pregnancy clinic and have them monitor you. I did that and they wonderful and allowed me to relax a little more xx
Well I’ve had my second blood test this morning, so just waiting for a call to say if the levels have increased as they should. 🤞🤞🤞 just have to be patient now! Xx
Oh good glad you’re having a blood test as a pregnancy test would say pregnant for ages even if you weren’t due to the hcg levels taking a while to leave your system - so the blood test will give you a definitive answer - and I’m sure a very reassuring and relaxing answer - when is your scan? X
Good luck. It’s so hard not to worry. I’ve had brown spotting a couple of times in my current pregnancy and I’m now 33 weeks, so it’s not always bad news. At 6 weeks it could be implantation as well. I’m sure I spotted around this time and put it down to that.
I’ve also brown spotting at the beginning of miscarriages too unfortunately as hard as it is only time will tell but sending you lots of luck! Xx
