Hello everyone!

So after just under a year of tests and appointments, we've had our appointment with the consultant, who has approved for us for an NHS round of ICSI (or possible IVF- to be decided after egg retrieval). We asked about waiting times to get started, and to our shock, they've suggested we go for it on my next cycle!! :-O I've heard and read so many things about London waiting times, I thought this side of Christmas would be a push! She said we could wait a while if we wanted to - it was our choice, but said as we emotionally seem in a positive place, made sense to go for it.

We're currently on the text book supplements (selenium, folic, co-Enz10,, Zinc, Omegas, Vit C&E etc) and on a health eating plan (high protein/ good fats/ low carb etc), but if anyone has any tips on preparation - both health wise and emotionally for the next month, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much in advance - have a fab weekend, sending lots of love and well wishes.

xxx

Ah thank you so much <3 I'm going to try and view this round as a tester so as not to pin too much on it, but going to try and enjoy the fact that this feels like positive progress for the first time in a log while. wishing you all the best for Sept - I'll try to keep a note of anything I learn that might be helpful throughout the process. xxx

I found my first round of ivf was stress overload! With not knowing what to expect and what to do I was a mess. My second round I was a lot more chilled and a lot easier on myself, before ET I just carried on as normal, take your vitamins and relax. After ET I was off work for 2 weeks and relaxed so much, I ate salt and vinegar Pringles, grapes, oranges and pomegranate juice 🤔 strange I know lol I had no stress and my OH did everything. We got BFN first time round but second time we got BFP and I honestly believe it was because I was stress free. So as difficult as it may sound just enjoy the process and don’t be hard on yourself. Good luck x

Ah thank you very much beauty1984 - that's really helpful, and totally figures.. i thoughT (naively!) I was pretty clued up on process as I have been doing some pre-reading so as not to get too thrown/ use time with doctors to ask the right questions, however MY GOD - it felt like the consultant was speaking 100mph!!.. sooo many random cycle dates launched at us, lining up appointments etc.. all in about 20 minutes!! ARGH! I will definitely be taking your advice though, and try to take what I can from feeling like this is positive steps and its OK for us to enjoy that fact. Massive congrats on your BFP- that's wonderful news!! wishing you lots of happiness and a healthy, happy pregnancy - make sure you treat yourself.. you ruddy deserve it!! :D xxx

Hi Miss Worrier (that should so be my name) just wanted to wish you lots of luck. It sounds like you’re doing all the right things anyway. I was told zero caffeine and alcohol of course and just take it easy and relax when you can especially within first 5 days post transfer. Keep us posted xxx

Hi Hidden thank you so much :) yes the caffeine one is a biggen for me - I am a bit of a tea fiend (office life!)... moved onto decaf a month ago and the headaches I got from withdraw!!...l!! I've now limited myself to one weak tea a day, anything else has to be decaf/ water etc. thanks again xxx

Wishing you lots of luck. I'll be on my first round of treatment in May and will follow your journey with interest. Keeping calm and stress free is so easy to say but so hard to do. Have you tried any mindfulness, there are a few free apps which I've dabbled with. The one I use is called Mindful IVF but there are others available too Xx

Ah thank you jengi - that's kind of you :) Funnily enough i have recently just downloaded the Mindful IVF app, so will definitely be giving it a whirl. Stress is something that I'm not the best at managing (bit of a control freak) so I think doing everything i can to relax and have fun during the process will be important for me.

I'll try to keep you posted with anything I may learn along the way, if its helpful. Sending love and good luck vibes your way <3 xxx

Hi Miss worrier and all

Wishing lots and lots of luck!! We are just coming out the other side of the year of tests and prods and hoping to start our first cycle in June.

Really excited but also nervous (the nasal spray or injections sound a little scary, do you get to choose or does the clinic make that choice for you?). Our NHS aren’t offering IVF anymore so we’re having to go private. Not sure how great i’ll be with injections!

Taking pregnacare conception vitamins and trying healthy eating, no caffeine and lots of water. I don’t think there is much else we can do but take each day as it comes. Like the idea of the mindlefulness IVF. I have a stressful job so hoping this will help!

Goodluck on your journey and look forward to reading how you get on

B xx

I didn't get a choice with the drugs, I had the injections. But they really are fine and painless! Once you've done the first one, it gets easier xxx

Thanks Michelle. I thought that would be the case ( who would freely choose injections:). How’s it going so far?

I am so eager to get going, feels like I’ve been in this train for ever - I know I can’t get too carried away - difficult not to xxx

I actually don't mind needles and injections haha. I'm really weird!!! 💙

So far for me it's going really well, had my transfer 15 days ago and its positive, so just waiting for a scan now! I definitely can relate to the getting carried away bit lol.

June will be here before you know it 😘 xxx
