After a failed cycle in February I'm booked into have a cycle with a frozen embryo transfer, last time I took no time at all off from work, I'm unsure whether to take a couple of weeks off this time round. I work in in dental surgery in quite stressful environment seeing up 40 patients a day sometimes, I don't know if it would be best to take time off or not, I would appreciate your opinions please xx

I’d take the time if you can. On my last cycle I took three weeks off! Thought we did extend our trip away for treatment. This time I’ll be off for 80% of the 2ww. And even then if I can I might take more time. It does drive you mad and some women find being at work occupies their mind. I made sure I had things planned to spend my days relaxing, or shopping, or seeing friends, or baking, or visiting nice little towns etc. It helped me to be relaxed and away from a very stressful job x

Me & hubby both took 3 days off for ET, so we had 3 days + weekend. It definitely made the process more relaxing & we bumbled about doing fun things. I think taking the time off together meant I wasn’t on the internet full time, stressing myself out with symptoms! If I had infinite holiday then taking the full 2 weeks off would be great - but I’d run out of annual leave in no time & would leave myself sort for the rest of the year. I’m glad I didn’t take the full time now, as we got our BFP which became a CP 🙁... I was so upset at the time. Now I’m looking forward to a week away in the spring, just the two of us, and I’m so grateful I have holiday to allow me to do that. Good luck whatever you decide xx

I would take the first few days or week off if you can. In my experience my first fet I took the two weeks off and that was a mistake as I was so focused on symptoms that I was going mad. The second fet I didn’t take any time off, which i then began to question if I was just too stressed out. So this time I’m going with 50/50. Either way do what feels right for you. Best of luck xxx

This is something I have been thinking about too.. I had my first failure a couple of months ago after taking no time off.. I am an accountant and my job isn’t that stressful.. I was planning on taking a couple of days off and having the weekend, it can’t hurt to take some time and especially if your day to day work is quite busy.. Best of luck for the FET.. Happy Easter too! Xxx

When I went through my 2 week wait I had the first week off work as I was still in a bit of pain from EC and I worked in a nursery at the time xxx

Yes that’s fine. Yes it was through my first cycle and they gave me the time off I needed for scans and a week off when I had egg collection. And I went back for the 2nd week of the 2WW and that was the week I decided to leave too much stress xx

Im just a little worried, i will have time to cover the tww and EC ET etc but working in a nursery is physically demanding i work in the baby room we can hsve upto 21 babies with 7 staff so im just thinking i should go to GP after and request light duties? But i dont want to tell my managers so what could i say to havd light duties? Congratulations 🎊 by the way i hope it continues to go well for you xx

I worked with the toddler room at the time and I told my bosses that it’s light duties only so picking kids up or changing nappies and they were fine with it. Thank you xx

I work in a baby room too but not as busy as the one you work in!!

On my first transfer I took no time off and worked through my tww, sadly it ended in a chemical pregnancy

We’re about to start our frozen transfer and I’m going to try to get signed off for the two weeks!! Only problem is I don’t get sick pay so I’ll just be on statutory xxx

Hello! I would definitely try and take some time off, also if you have time owing you could take that off aswell? IVF is stressful as it is (not been through it myself but had alot to read about it). a little rest will do you good and get you relaxed aswell.

I have my first consultation appointment on 27th April (scan, OH SA, Nurse appointment then a consultation) i work as a deputy manager and a room leader you wouldn't guess which room yes the baby room! Its a private day nursery so open all year round.

I was planning to take 2 days off EC, 2 days off ET and then work mornings only for TWW. I wont be telling my manager if i dont need to as i dont feel she will be understanding, il be using my holidays!

I hope it all goes well for you xx
