Hi hayleigh -

Considerin pcos risk and because you have many follicles chances are you may have a lot of eggs at egg collection.(EC)

I found the day of the collection very painful in pelvic region and very sore! That passed but the next day I was def more bloated. I did return to work on day 2 after EC but found I tired very quickly!

That's partly to do with the hormone meds they give you after also.

I would say at least day of and day after EC as precaution. A rest day is always nice.

Thank you, that sounds like good advice. Did you encounter any side affects from the injections? I woke up this morning absolutely sweating and ive been so tired today which isnt like me. I work shifts and have a 13 hour day tomorrow so hope i perk up xx

Oh dear that doesn't sound nice@side effects.

Can I ask which injections you're taking? I was on Gonal F (100 to begin with) and cetrotide.

No I don't believe I had any significant side effects apart from fatigue but I didn't start my cycle on day 2 of my period. It might be a combination of your period and injecting hormones! It's only day 1 so give yourself time to adjust.

Saying that however you MUST keep your fluids up. They strongly advise that anyway

I definitely found I was exhausted from day 1 and that's continued through the whole process.

Yes i definitely have not drank enough today but will make sure i do. Im just on menopur to start with 75IU x3 (3 amps) then i start the cetrotide next week x

Hey,

I went back to work the next day after my transfers but I suppose it could depend on your job?

I agree with Saya85 regarding egg collection x

I work with adults with challenging behaviours but i do long days and sleeps - I think I will definitely be having a couple of days after ET. Thanks for replying i am on a forum on facebook (its a pcos forum) but this site is so much friendlier x

Ah that's okay, I haven't been on the forum long but agree all the ladies are so friendly and it's nice to get advice from people going/been through it. Oh okay, I'm a carer for a profoundly disabled lady and do long shifts to, I found it quite draining especially in the 2ww so if you can book time off work might be beneficial xx

Yeah i think your right I just worry too much time on my hands will make me slightly crazy lol I like to keep busy but obviously want to do everything I can to five myself the absolute best chance of success xx

Im the same and I think trying to keep occupied can help with the mental battles that go on in your head during the 2ww so sounds like you've got a good plan with taking a couple days off and then seeing how you go. How have you found the injections? Xx

Ive been ok, i got myself in abit of a state yesterday before i had administered the injection. I think it was the unknown. Once i had actually done it i was fine and tonights was much easier. Im a little worried because i wasted 2 amps of powder yesterday because i couldnt quite get the hang of it hope the nurse is ok when i tell her on monday. I felt so brave yesterday after i had done the first injection lol x

Ah that's good well done 🙂 they do get easier. I'm sure they'll understand, I know all clinics and meds are different but I always had some left over at the end of my cycles x

Hayleigh86 in reply to E_05

Yeah im sure they will be ok im just a worrier ha! It took me a while to be able to out the needle in but surprisingly it didnt hurt at all i dont know why i was so stressed out lol x

E_05 profile image
E_05 in reply to Hayleigh86

Oh don't worry, so am I think we all are when going though this tbh. I think there's so much riding on the injections and it's something we want so much it's natural to be stressed when first doing them. Some ladies say they find it easier than partners doing it but I've never wanted my husband to lol x

Hayleigh86 profile image
Hayleigh86 in reply to E_05

No i didnt either he said he would if i struggled but my worry was he would be too gentle which would hurt more if that makes sense? And when im at work he wont be there so I thought im better just biting the bullet and doing it straight away x

E_05 profile image
E_05 in reply to Hayleigh86

Yeah definitely I agree! I know mines scared of needles and he never hid the fact he didn't want to do them so its worked for us both since last year lol x

Hayleigh86 profile image
Hayleigh86 in reply to E_05

Mine says he isnt scared of needles but he can't even see the dentist without me in the room lol. Im definitely the brave one x

Haha that's a good thing cause although you both going through the journey, us women definitely get the short straw with how much we have to put ourselves through. Are you doing the short or long protocol x

Hayleigh86 profile image
Hayleigh86 in reply to E_05

I have taken 1 week off during Ec and et

Hayleigh86 profile image
Hayleigh86 in reply to Daddu1

Thats what my consultant recommended, i just worry that ill have too much time on my hands at home and that i might be better on light dutiesat work. Work are expecting me to take a week x

First cycle I went back day after. That was a mistake as I was sore and tired, so ended up going home by lunch anyway. With that lesson learned, second cycle I stayed home the day after EC. Felt better this time, and ended up working from home a little on the laptop I had brought with that foresight. Then, went back to work and wouldn't have done it any other way, as the 2WW will go by much quicker if you're distracted at work! Now 8w6d so clearly it hasn't been a problem.

Hayleigh86 profile image
Hayleigh86 in reply to Gueritarubia

Aww thanks for that, I could work from home for a couple of days actually never thought of that. Ive suffered with depression and I know that for me time on my own is not a good thing and thats when I don't have the stress of the 2WW to add into the mix. Congratulations xx

Thanks :-)

Working from home is a blessing so do that if you can! Also, try to take the calls with updates on your embryos from home if you can. If it's bad news, you can recover before you go in, or call in sick. My first cycle I had bad news the day after EC and I took that call minutes before a meeting with my boss. Ended up breaking down in that meeting... thankfully he knew about our quest and that I had EC but still it was hard, and having to go home was also hard as couldn't face the drive (hence why I ended up staying till lunch). Good luck!

Aww thats good advice, you dont think about these things unless you have been through it. Ive just got my heart set on it working first time I havent really thought about about recieving bad news xx

I didn't on my first two tries but I am going to on my 3rd and final go and although they say there's no evidence resting makes a difference and encourage you to get on as normal I'm going to make sure I do rest this time. My friend had 3 goes and on the 3rd time she decided she would lay down after egg transfer and rest , she is now 16weeks. I'm not saying it was doing this that helped but I'm not taking any chances this time . Good luck with your cycle xx

Hayleigh86 in reply to Nyko1

Your absolutely right, anything then may help is worth a try. Best of luck to you xx

Hi Hayleigh, I think it depends on your job. First 2 times I didn't but 3rd time I did as in a much busier job. If you do take time off need to make sure you stay 'busy' otherwise you'll go mad! The 2WW is the worst xx
