I'm new...and very confused...

Hi. I just found this site and looks like it may be great for getting me through the journey I'm very nervously about to embark on, so here goes...

I'm 32 and the conclusion we have came to over the past few months after having random hot flushes and irregular periods, is that my amh level is less than 1 and my fsh is risen. Not great for fertility so it seems. My first ivf appointment was last week with a private clinic in Glasgow and I have an appointment with the nhs in a few weeks. I'm told the with my level being so poor I may not get the 3 cycles offered to other woman but more than welcome to try with my own eggs before going down the donor route.

I have been advised to start micronized DHEA for 3 months to try and boost my amh levels before treatment so just waiting on it arriving.

I don't really know how to feel so guess I was just hoping for some comfort knowing I'm not the only one with levels this low at my age and if there was anyone out there who has managed to go and deliver a healthy baby with their own eggs while having an amh as low as mine.

Any help/ advice is much appreciated xx

Hello, I’m anther low amh patient! Mine is around 2.8 but that was a year ago and I’m retesting next week. I know someone who has amh of 1.5 and had a baby through modified natural ivf, it can work! I believe that’s the best kind of ivf for low amh and it is very gentle on your body too. Have a look through my posts in order and you will see my experience of my first modified natural ivf round start to finish.

I totally understand how you will be feeling, it’s rough news to be dealt so if you need to talk feel free to message xx

No my clinic is Create and they specialise in mild ivf and low amh, there are a few around the uk. We aren’t meant to discuss clinics on posts so if you want to know anything then let me know! I’ve done 2 nhs max dose rounds and they were no good for me really. First round looked good at first with 7 follicles at a measurable size but they got only 2 eggs, only one fertilised and it arrested at day 2. Second round 4 eggs, 3 fertilised, all 3 were very poor quality at day 3 and had 2 put in, BFN and the 3rd one arrested at day 3 too. Both of those rounds involved 10 days of maximum dose stim injections and cetrotide daily too for the second half.

We just did our first modified natural ivf with only 2 injections and 5 tablets! I got 3 eggs and all 3 fertilised and one is frozen good quality. It’s the first time we ever got anything good quality and the round itself was easy and gentle. Just starting the second round next week as we are doing 3 rounds to collect hopefully 3 ish embryos before we transfer xx

Hi Orla I know your post was a while ago I wondered if you was successful in having a baby? I have very low aMh and it would be really helpful to know outcome? Also enquired with Create - thank you

Well… strange timing but my daughter was born yesterday! But she was born via donor eggs and using a surrogate! But I definitely think creates approach is the only approach for low amh, for mw at least, I got much better results on lower dose more gentle protocols xx

Hey Ama, you're not alone unfortunately. My AMH at 34yo last year was tested at 0.7, FSH 9.6 - LH 7.4 - OE 460 :(

I never fell pregnant in my life and I've been trying to conceive since April 2016.

As you can see from my profile/old posts, I have tried 1 IVF already last Oct/Nov (1 long and 1 short protocol) and the short one seemed to work better. Docs told me it could be because my overies are not used to produce a lot, hence strong medications obtain the opposite effect (not responding). However I was still producing not more than 2 eggs. One ended up being immature and the other one didn't fertilise.

My hubby and I have moved to California recently due to his job and have just started doing consultations with clinics here. I had one yesterday and the the doctor recommended to do what they call a "Mini Ivf" that I think it's the same as the one Orla is calling "modified natural ivf". It's a lighter stimulation (doc here said Chlomid+Menopur).

We're self funded as NHS in London told my values were too low for a good success rate and they didn't have enough funds (sob sob sob)..

We're already thinking about egg donation and feel pretty positive on taking this route in case next IVF doesn't work again. It took some months to get around that idea but we did it :D.

I must admit that since I was diagnosed with premature ovarian insufficiency (I stopped calling it failure some months ago for my own mental health) the psychological journey has been the hardest in my life. Counseling could be helpful but in London I didn't have time for it and here it's very expensive.

I would recommend to keep having faith, trying to maintain a positive approach toward life in general and relying on the love of the people you love. Share your thoughts with them, let them hug you even if they don't know how to help you in facts. You will need all their support. I am infinitely lucky because my husband is a real star, my parents and friends have been always supportive and attentive. Feeling lucky despite infertility is very very important.

And also, this forum with the fantastic ladies here is such a great shelter for me.

I wish you all the best, welcome x

Thank you for the reply. Nice to know I'm not alone but not at the same time. Can't remember what my fsh level last time. Had 3 tests for that and all been high..tyroid fine tho. I will need to find out more about this natural ivf before my nhs appointment.

Was considering acupuncture too..🤔 xx
