I had my pre-treatment scan and mock embryo transfer on Tuesday but I'm a little confused. The Dr counted 14 eggs but told me my AMH level was very high at 61. No mention of PCOS just that I would be put on short protocol with a very low dose of drugs due to being high risk of OHSS. The 14 eggs that were counted, is this the highest number of eggs they will retrieve? I'm just confused as to why my AMH level is so high when I feel not that many eggs were counted? Also any advice on helping to avoid OHSS?
They usually count your follicles prior to starting treatment, the injections your taking will increase the amount of follicles you have so if it’s 14 each side then you could end up with quite a few more. Not every follicle contains an egg either.
Think before treatment I had 7 on one size and 6 on the other, I can’t even remember what the numbers were after injections, I also had short protocol and 19 eggs were collected at egg collection.
Thanks so much Amanda, 8 on one side and 6 on the other so similar to yours. How did you find the whole process? I'm on the pill now and then go for my next scan on 8th February to hopefully start my injections. Feels very surreal now! xxx
A bit all over the place to be honest! I change from excited to subdued to scared to happy all in about five minutes lol. Nice to get going though and just trying to think positively and keep calm. I'm not very patient and like to be in control so it's a bit challenging.
How are you and bump getting on? Are you enjoying the pregnancy?
I think all those feelings are so normal, I hated not being in control too! Short protocol from what I’ve read is a lot easier than long, so that’s a bonus!
We’re doing ok thanks for asking, my sickness has finally eased 🙏
I’ve got my 20 week scan on Monday so I’m a little anxious about that but otherwise well 🙂 xxx
