Feeling stupid ⁉️

Hey ladies, I feel like I’m being really thick and should know the answer to this question, but anyway. Going to my scan after 8 days of stims on Friday, what should I be expected to hear about follicles? What’s good? What’s bad? I’ve read up but I’m just finding it all confusing! Everyone seems so knowledgeable, I feel very naive 😢

Don’t feel silly we’ve all been there! I don’t think there is a right or wrong number everyone is different. They’ll give you an idea of how many follicles there are and adjust meds if needed to increase follicles. At mine they also gave me an idea of when egg collection might be. It was at my second scan they gave me an idea of how many eggs I might get. Apparently about 70% of follicles contain an egg? Hope all goes really well for you xxx

Not a daft question at all. They just want to see that your follicles are growing and not by too much etc. Everyone is different and reacts to the meds differently so they juat need to monitor how long to keep you on stims or if they need to adjust the dose. Best of luck!xx

Hi,

Like Elizabeth86 said it is different for everyone. For me, I have low Amh so I'm not expected to respond very well. I had day 10 (second scan) scan today and I had 6/7 follicles with maybe a few more that could potentially make it to EC. But it really is individual. You'll see it a lot of people saying this but it is definitely the quality that matters rather than quantity.

Wishing you all the best xx

Yeah they just want to check follicles are growing as expected and they measure them digitally then plot them on a chart of the computer. You'll have many more of these scans and they'll keep plotting the growth to let you know when you're ready for egg collection! 🍳 The thing that I didn't know was that they can only measure follicles and not eggs as eggs are that small so they can't be seen on the scans. The lady who did one of my last scans said 'yeah we just have to drain the follicles and fish for eggs to see if they're there' during egg collection' - FISH FOR EGGS! What a way of putting it! X
