Anxious after Ectopic Operation.

Hi Everyone,

Me again. I've started to feel really anxious now about things after my surgery. I keep waking up at about half 5 in the morning. I woke up yesterday and felt like some one had smacked me in the face, I had a migraine. Then this morning I woke up and had to go straight to the bathroom as I felt so sick. I woke up in the night terrified I had to have another injection similar to where they administered my anaesthetic. Are things like this common? I think I've struggled because I've never had an operation before and there are other things getting me wound up in the day such as getting my plasters wet in the bath even though I've been told I can, and work. I wasn't treated very well post op by the hospital either so I've had to find out about my after care mostly by myself which has made me wonder if there's anything else they missed. Plus I overthink. Anyone else felt anxious afterwards? Xxx

You’ve had a really tough time. Could you be experiencing some post traumatic stress? It might be worth going to your GP to speak about how you are feeling. They could refer you for counselling if that’s something you’d be comfortable with xx

I think I might be to be honest. It's not so bad in the day, it's either middle of the night or first thing in the morning. I've got an appointment with them soon so I'll discuss it with them. It's just little things that are really winding me up I wish I could just calm down :( Thanks for your reply xxx

I can relate to your anxiety. When I was at my worst I had very disturbed sleep with nightmares / night terrors. I found weekly acupuncture and doing some meditation on earphones to help me fall into a restful sleep were helpful strategies. Hoping you can find some relief soon. Take care xx

So sorry for all you been through, I would definitely speak to your GP. I suffer with bad anxiety especially in the night so can understand how tough what your feeling is. Maybe some of your grief for your ectopic pregnancy is coming out in your frustration in the small things?

I know myself I get angry some (a lot) days about what we are going through but it presents through the smaller things in life. I agree with Dunla maybe some counselling would help if your open to it, I’m just looking into it for myself now xx

Hi KirstyC90. Oh you poor thing! It might sound daft, but try drinking plenty of water to dehydrate you. If you haven't enough water on board, it can play tricks with your brain/mind. Hope you're soon back to an OK you. Thinking of you. Diane
