IVF after Ectopic - success stories please!

Hi there,

I am currently 4.5 weeks pregnant after a FET but have a history of ectopic pregnancies. One was in 2012 and was managed with methotrexate, one was last year and resulted in the removal of my left tube.

Been reading some horror stories about IVF resulting in further ectopics so would really like some reassurance. My EPU are going to scan me on Tuesday so hopefully they'll find something in my uterus!

Good luck with this. I had a surgically removed ectopic recently via ivf (have had a uterine normal pregnancy before) so I’m very paranoid about my next transfer. My clinic have said no progesterone for me this time as apparently that can increase ectopic risk, so this is a purely natural cycle, not sure about if you had any extra hormones? Hope everything goes well with your scan x

I had an ectopic pregnancy in January 2021 that resulted in removal of my left tube. The pregnancy was natural conception. We tried for a year to conceive naturally before moving onto ivf. I gave birth to our daughter in November 2022. I had early scans at both the ivf clinic and epu due to risks around ectopic. I did take progesterone though. Also had a hysteroscopy that removed all the scar tissue and helped make the environment that much more friendly for our embies! So in short success does existpost ectopic via ivf!

Thanks sookisapperstine! I have also been on progesterone although have been told to come off now that I have a positive pregnancy test. My EPU are scanning me on Tuesday which will be just over 5 weeks for me so I'm hoping they are able to see something!

Hi Hazelwood I had an ectopic from a natural pregnancy in 2019 resulting in emergency surgery to remove my right fallopian tube. I am currently feeding my 6 week old after a successful round of IVF. I took progesterone in the form of 3 200mg pessarys a day and 2 x 25mg injections of lubion a day until 12 week scan as previous IVF cycles I had heavy bleeding before test day. As I had previous history of ectopic my clinic scaned me early at 6 weeks instead of the usual 7 weeks my understanding is if it is in the womb at this stage it will be attached and therefore won't move outside of the womb. I know how scary it is waiting try to find something to take your mind off it. Fingers crossed 🤞 this is the one for you x
