Advice needed 😢

This is my first time writing on here but I have read some of your amazing (some times sad) stories and some times well up reading the support and advice you give!

So here goes, I’m currently in my 1st round of ivf and on day 5 of stims (long protocol) yesterday my throat became sore so I jumped on it, gargling salt water, taking paracetamol and using throat spray, this morning it was worse and I noticed 3 white spots on my tonsil 😩😩 after a frantic dash to the docs he said he couldn’t promise it wouldn’t turn in to bacterial tonsillitis, but at the minute he would say it’s viral (hallelujah) He told me to carry on what I was going and get plenty of rest! I’ve spent the day gargling salt water, drinking honey and lemon and sucking lozenges! Have just looked in the mirror and both my tonsils are now covered in spots! I’m due my scan on Friday and hopefully ER next Friday!

I’m so stressed that they will cancel this round after we have waited so long!

Has this ever happened to anyone else and do you know if antibiotics are safe to take during the stims round?

Sorry for the long post I just feel so low!!

Thanks xx

Hey, welcome to the forum! Sorry your not feeling good, is the last thing you need on top of your cycle. I didn’t have tonsillitis but got an infection after EC and was on antibiotics they said they were perfectly safe to have during in pregnancy so I would be fine taking them during ET. I can’t say for definite but wouldn’t think anti biotics would delay anything just make sure your GP knows you’d need ones safe for pregnancy to be on the safe side xx

Hi Looby25. Oh that’s not nice! You’re do8n* the right things to treat it. As it seems to be spreading, it would be good to let your GP see. Don’t worry about your IVF that should still continue even if you need antibiotics. Keep drinking and sipping hot lemon. Hope it soon sorts itself out - or gets sorted. Diane

Hey hun. Following an operation there was a mistake and no longer have a functioning bladder. Sadly I have to take daily antibiotics. These are absolutely fine during pregnancy but make sure you tell gp what you're doing through as some aren't suitable. All the best of luck xx

I had to have antibiotics for a really nasty abscess that eventually needed surgery and more antibiotics after. They will make sure they are safe for you to take so don't worry just rest up and hope you feel better soon. Tonsillitis is the pits!! Xx
