On my second round of ivf just been for baseline scan today and my lining was fine (which was what I was worried about as took over 4 weeks to thin my lining last time) however I had 2 large follicles on both ovaries. They said buserelin stimulates ovaries before it shuts them off and mine have grew 4 follicles. They have sent me away doing 2 more weeks of down reg hoping that they drain on their own. If not they will need drained before starting any next steps.
Just wondering if anyone has had this before? I’ve trolled the internet and can’t find any info! Im abit gutted was so ready to get started again. Wondering if they don’t drain what this will do to any timelines.

This can happen from time to time They are given your body time to shrink the follicles naturally . As far as I'm aware they will only drain the follicles if above a certain size .Ask your clinic to explain this to youThinking of you
Thank you for ur reply Janet ❤️ They were all above 20 the biggest was 24. Hoping they shrink within the next two weeks 🙏🏻 I think I’ll call the clinic tomorrow armed with a list of questions. I’m just concerned if I have to get them drained it will affect my chances at next egg collection xx
Hi there, not exactly the same but I can understand your frustration I was on a short protocol and when I went for my scan I had a follicle. They completely stop my treatment and I had to wait for another period to check it had gone. On my first try I had a cyst but because of timing they were happy for me to continue and drained it when they egg collected.
I had many speed bumps through my treatment so I can empathise x
Aww thank you for ur reply ❤️ It’s such a rollercoaster ride isn’t it! My first round was the same something went wrong at every appointment. Was hoping for a smoother 2nd go! Hope ur round was successful 🙏🏻❤️ X
The thing is it takes so much mentally to prepare yourself to go through ivf it’s really gruelling. Then to stop start is also extremely hard. I over stimulated the first time round doing long protocol, so they put me on short protocol second time and then I didn’t respond properly to meds second time so had to stop and change to a longer protocol 🙈 along with other issues along the way. So finally 2 years after freezing our first eggs and technically only 2 ivf rounds we are now expecting. But again very bumpy road and a long way to go. I’ve got everything crossed for you. Xx
Congratulations ❤️🥰 gives me abit hope that even through all the ups and downs it can work! Wishing u a very happy pregnancy. Sounds like u had a very rocky road! I know it’s such a strain on the body and mind. Even harder when things seem to be going wrong at every little hurdle. But u have give me hope I will get there 🙏🏻 X
I had a cyst/follicle that needing aspiration, it delayed my cycle by a week or 2 if I remember rightly but didn’t need to start a fresh cycle. It refilled after aspiration so they decided as it wasn’t producing any hormone and I had plenty of other follicles to just continue with egg collection as planned . The procedure was just like egg collection just shorted. Nothing to worry about there just understandably any delay os frustrating. All the best lovey x
