I have booked my fertility scan next week Nov 30 th , as per my app am gonna ovulate 29 but the receptionist booked on 30th .
What do I expect ?? Do I need to ask any questions,? I am so scared and nervous already . Below are the things they claim they gonna do on me, any suggestions would be appreciated please ...
This is a detailed gynaecological examination. We will assess the size and shape of the cervix, uterus, Fallopian tubes and ovaries. We will measure the thickness of the lining of the uterus. We will check for common conditions such as fibroids, ovarian cysts, polycystic ovaries, endometriosis, polyps and pelvic inflammatory disease. This can check the development of follicles leading to ovulation in natural cycles or for women taking fertility medication. The scan can also check the condition of the lining of the womb (endometrium) prior to natural or assisted conception. This scan can also assess the pelvic organs in cases of infertility or recurrent miscarriage. If any abnormality is found we will refer you to your general practitioner for further management. Please arrive at the clinic with a full bladder. Transvaginal scan may be recommended to improve the views and will be carried out with consent at the same appointment. (Please note, this scan should be carried out during the second half of your cycle)

Hi, I’ve had this type of trans vaginal scan as part of my initial fertility assessment.
I was a bit stressed out about it but it was a piece of cake. They had a look at all of the things you said and it didn’t hurt even a bit. Although they didn’t mention the full bladder thing to me or I just missed that bit??
She talked me through my ovarian health and counted the follicles that she could see and that was it really. We met afterwards to discuss the next steps as you get all the results straight away.
No hun they won't be able to check for blockages like that hun xx you'll need a dye test for that where they put dye through your tubes and do an see if it spills out. Xx
Don't know then probably to see if there in right place to clarify there isn't adhesions. I don't think they could check for blockages like that but maybe technology has moved so quickly they could. Just give them a call and make sure 💗🤗😘
Yes, just as AllWeNeedIsluv says it’s just a look around. Nothing more technical that that.
I did find it interesting to see what my ovaries looked like and they looked at general health of everything.
Please don’t be scared, I promise it’s not painful or anything like a smear test. It’s really just a wand in a condom popped up there.
Your OH can come and hold your hand if you choose, although I left mine in the waiting room drinking tea. He was traumatised about having missed the sample jar when he had to give a sperm sample and then having to take another home as ‘homework’ 😂
Omg homework 😂😂😂😂 sorry I really laughed loud reading this .. okay I hope I can manage alone , I said my husband not to come as the appointment was around 4 . I am Indian and it’s just me and my husband here in UK with no friends. Colleagues are just colleagues and can’t expect anything from them . I really miss my parents and sisters who will just accompany with me every time . I sometimes feel so alone and feel terrible when I go sick . Thanks for your reply though .

And then we had the drama of how to get the sample back to the clinic at body temperature.
The clinic recommended that he put his sample into his jeans pockets so that it stayed warm but he had to do it before 10am and it couldn’t be more than an hour old.
He was doing google map plans of his route to the clinic to avoid roadworks that might make his sample late and actually contemplated hiring a premier inn room near the clinic (I said no to that one)
Bloody hell, he could well be the most dramatic man ever 😂😂😂
Ha ha ha drama queens are our blokes!!😂😂 Mine was too embarrassed to hand his in. First time I had to take it to hospital which is 45mins away and best place I could think to put it was in my cleavage to keep it body temp and had put my hand up my top to fish it out to give to the staff!😆Next time he went to the hospital toilet as they wanted a fresher one and came out then gave it to me to hand it in again!! The things you have to do eh?!😂😂😂😂xx
To be fair he didnt suggest it.... it was the only place I could think of to keep it warm on a December day! Im fairly well blessed in that department so didnt even feel the container much!😂😂
If you’re going with a full bladder then it sounds like the process will be done using an ultrasound on your stomach, but don’t be surprised if they ask you to go to the loo and then come back for an internal examination. That bit shocked me as I wasn’t expecting it. It isn’t that bad though, no worse than a smear test, in fact I found it easier as there aren’t any metal instruments used like in a smear. Hope it all goes ok!
