I've been keeping quite a low profile lately. Playing the waiting game between fertility department and gynaecology department for the lap test.
I've read a few posts relating to lap test and it's given me a bit of a fright. I'm worried about the pain I'm going to be in after and the length of recovery time.
Is there anything I can do to prepare my body for it? Or make the recovery less painful and more speedy. I feel quite worried and anxious about it.
I'm back at work now after the summer holidays, which is great for routine and focusing on healthy eating. Two girls I work with both announced they're pregnant, it's just hard. When will it be my turn, will it ever be my turnπ’
Sorry for a pity party!

Oh hun. Don't be sorry. First of all I wish you all the luck in the world and hope this lap gives you answers you need.
I would say get some baggy clothes pyjamas and knickers. Your going to be swollen. Get some peppermint tea to help with gas. Prepare some meals in advance and freeze them you won't be able to cook. Keep a heat pad with you or buy one if u don't have one. Also look into buying some serrapeptase to take after you've had surgery it will stop scar tissue from forming and help with pain. I wish I'd have found it before my lap to take but found it later. I'll defo be taking it after my next op. If your on blood thinners don't take it though. Who ever is coming to pick you up make sure they have a pillow in the car for journey home. Rest till you feel better don't push v yourself you'll only end up back in your bum. When you walk hold your tum you'll naturally do that but only take little steps round the house. Don't pick up anything for a while. I think that's it just be good to yourself get magazines watch films read books I know it's gets boring resting but trust me you need to until you know your body is ready. Wish you all the best hun. ππ€π
Agree with all this except I don't know anything about serrapeptese. I would recommend bio oil for the scarring. My lap was a year ago, I used it religiously for six months then on and off for the next six months and honestly my husband can't spot the scars (though I know where they are of course!).
After the op my hubbie slept in the spare room for a few nights as I didn't want to accidentally bump into him in bed with a sore bit!
Take your phone charger in your hospital bag in case you are in longer than you expect.
I was a big fan of wearing my nightie all the time whilst I was recovering (along with my attractive anti thrombosis socks the hospital gave me), I avoided waistbands altogether, unless I had to leave the house.
You will be fine it just takes a little while to recover but it is a necessary process.
Oh and make sure you've stocked up on paracetamol and take them every six hours religiously until the pain is over. No point feeling pain you could medicate!
Internal scarring serrapeptase is for. Helps stop adhesions from forming and eats away at mucous and dead tissue that's not supposed to be there. Also helps with inflammation. ππ€π
I get mine from Holland and Barrett but I'm going to change to another brand that's local to me that have more enzymes in just for the sake of endo and how it could help xx
You sound like a pro and I'm delighted to get the benefit of your wisdom! I think once I have a date for the actual procedure and can sort my sick leave and things I'll feel a bit less anxious. Would it be ridiculous to get on a plane a few days after? If I am off work for 2 weeks it would be nice to at least recover in Scotland. Seeing as I shouldn't be cuddling up to DH or my beloved dog!
Thanks so much for all the info and advice, very informative and helpfulπ I'm adding it to my lap to do list!
I think my hesitation about the lap is in my gut I feel like this isn't the issue and to put myself through an unnecessary procedure seems like madness. I tried to have a HSG but I couldn't continue as it was so sore. The HSG is sounding more appealing now!π₯
Ask them to do it while your having a lap that's what they did with me once your asleep it's no problem. You'll need looking after and you'll need to rest but look at it this way you'll know what's going on and hopefully be able to get to the bottom of it. You'll be fine and your welcome hun. You want to chat message me anytime ππ€π good luck hun let me know the outcome π
Bless you, you're so sweet! ππ back at you! It's good talk to people in the same boat! I have my consultation in a month so hopefully the doctor will be nice and agree to do the full shabam while they're in.
Awww thanks you are too. Hi πby the way I just realised how rude I was. Soz. Yes they decided last minute with me on day of surgery to do full shabam lap dye and hysteroscopy. That way your not getting faffed about c with and if your anything like me I hate traveling to hospital mines is on other side of city. ππ€π
I had it all done at once as well, and also a cervical dilation as they weren't able to get through my cervix for hysteroscopy- ask them about whether you need that too!
Sorry Lizzy I missed your comment! Just seeing now! What is a cervical dilation? I will definitely ask the doctor. I don't think the doctor will be a fertility expert but hopefully they will know all this!
