Ovulation question

So my clearblue ovulation test showed I had ovulated on day 18. I had a hospital blood test on day 22 (should have been day 21 but it was a Sunday) and it didn't show ovulation. Anybody have any ideas?

Hi I read somewhere that the blood tests should be done 7 days after ovulation so maybe not long enough? Alternatively could be that you had lh surge but didn't actually ovulate? I had similar happen to me & never found out which of those it was! Thankfully another blood test on a different cycle showed ovulation so they weren't too bothered, as we're having icsi anyway due to MF infertility. Hope that helps a little xx

I had similar issues when I first started being tested. They say test on day 21 as standard, but that is based on day 14 ovulation so if you don't have a 28 day cycle or ovulate late then it can throw things out.

Hi LauraGU. A Day 21 progesterone blood test is usually done on that day or even Day 22 for a cycle of 28-30 days. If it is much longer or shorter, then the timing may have to be adjusted. The normal result should read more than 30 to confirm ovulation for that month. Diane

Thanks Di- they are saying that we can still progress with a natural FET and to contact them when my clearblue test shows my surge again and they will proceed with the FET. Does that sound right? Xx

Hi LauraGU. That sounds fine to me. They can sometimes give a little withdrawal bleed at the start, so no worries. Good luck with it all and for a positive result. Thinking of you. Diane

Thanks Di- sorry to be a pain. What is the purpose of ovulation then when it's a FET? Xxx

Hi LauraHU. You need to synchronise with your normal cycle. So after ovulation, your hormones stimulate the growth of your endometrium (womb lining) in readiness for an embryo to implant. Diane
