Hi everyone. I'm new here and just about to start IVF. I have my appointment with the consultant in 2 weeks then start treatment around the 2nd week of September. Looking for any advice and success stories?

Welcome to the exciting and nerve racking world of ivf! The most helpful things I have done is acupuncture, positive visualisation cds and created a meal planner to help my body when going through the stimming stage. Emma Cannon is a brilliant book! Good luck on your journey! What proctol are you on? X

Thank you for your advice. I have no idea what protocol I am on. I feel hugely unprepared which is why I am doing as much research as I can now. I saw the nurse last week and had all my bloods taken. She said I will see the consultant end of August and she will be able to go through everything in detail. I will have another transvaginal ultrasound and then go back on day 1 of my period and start drugs.

Wishing you lots of luck on this roller coaster of a journey. Unfortunately I can't offer any success stories yet but I would say take each day as it comes. If you can have things to look forward to along the way of your treatment otherwise it can feel like it's taking over your life. I also have done acupuncture 3/4 of my cycle and feel it really helps with my anxiety x

Thank you for your advice. Sounds like acupuncture is the way forward. I feel ok at the moment but I guess that's because I have just got used to the fact it may not happen. I know once I start the treatment it's going to be hard for me and my husband. X

I think Acupunture is a bit like marmite some love it and some don't, it's something worth trying but can be costly - I would say if you do decide to try it definitely find someone is specialises in fertility. I won't pretend it is a hard journey but it's also one that's strengthened mine and my Hubby's relationship. Like I say try to take each day as it come, I'm sure you'll get great support from this forum and feel free to ask questions, normally one of us has experienced or has an idea of what's being asked x

I am a postive story it took us 5 cycles but I am currently 14 weeks and 2 days. I would say try and take each day as it comes. Good Luck xxx

Welcome to the squad, I wish you all the best for your first cycle. I can't speak from the perspective of success just from the view point of determination and belief that one day it will happen. Never give up, hope will get you through the tough times. Good luck xxx

Wishing you lots of luck!! I'm a newbie also, just on my first week of stimm's at the moment!! 😳 Also doing acupuncture, feel like we've nothing to lose with it!! x

Thank you! How exciting for you. Wishing you the best of luck 🍀 I think I may look into the acupuncture. I've learnt a lot from reading posts in this group already. We haven't really been given any information at any appointments so far. I'm not sure if that is normal but it's made me feel really unprepared. Was it the same for you? X

Thank you!! Same 2 u!! 🍀 Me 2, I only joined last week but I've found the group really helpful!!

We got bits of info on the run up, but it was mainly at our first consultation we got more detail of our protocol etc! When's your consultation? After that I found it all started so quickly!! 😳

Best advice I've had so far is to just face each day & step one at a time!! But like I say I'm a total newbie!! xx

in reply toLeo2017

Consultation is 29th August then we were told to expect to start treatment day 1 of my cycle. Yes it is happening quite quickly! Xx

Welcome! I just joined myself and looks like we'll be cycling around the same time. I'm meant to start meds in late September.

The HFEA website and Infertility Network site has some good info. But j think the process can be slightly different from person to person so it can be hard to get details until you're given all the meds/dates etc.

I've been taking supplements, doing acupuncture and trying to mentally prepare with meditation. Who knows if that will make a difference at all. Good luck!

I had a look at your profile, I see we are in a similar situation. We are also unexplained after TTC for 2 years. Absolutely everything has come back normal. I guess that's what gives me hope. Fingers crossed we both only have to go through the 1 cycle. Good luck to you too 🍀 xx
