My husband and I have have been TTC our first for 18 months. I am 34 and my husband is 41, neither of us have any children. I have never been pregnant.
We have been through testing and my husbands sperm count etc is normal... on paper I appear “normal” although I have been told my ovarian reserve is not high. We have therefore been diagnosed with sub-infertility.
We were just about to start our IVF journey but that has been cancelled due to the strange times we find ourself in.
I’m scared and nervous...

Welcome! Sorry to hear you’ve had to pause your IVF because of corona, I hope for everyone this all blows over soon and we can all get back to normal 🙏🏻
I am also 34 and my hubby is 43 so very similar! We’ve been through four cycles so happy to answer any questions you might have xxx
You’re right, it’s definitely the unknown which is scary (just like the current pandemic!!)
We are based in the North East we were referred to our local fertility clinic... not yet got a full plan in place, that will be the next step once we are allowed back to the clinic. Can always hope for a miracle in the meantime xx
Welcome my love. These aren't great times for fertility issues for all of us, especially as we can't get any help at this time! IVF on hold across the board! But there's a lot of support on here. x
Hi 👋 I think were all in a similar boat newbie here too, obviously I understand the reasoning behind the decision, i think they should open the clinics , when the hospitals start to handle the admissions- wishful thinking- #devastated. Some people are saying 3 months 6months 12 months one said 18months. Age is not on my side.
Hey well come to the group! I’m also based in the north east, we’ve been trying to conceive for over 5 years and had 3 nhs cycles and 4 transfers and about to start on private nhs, well before this horrible virus came along! Im happy to answer any questions you might have, everyone on here is brilliant for support. Nice having some more people local on here! Xx
It is great having some locals on here. We are having treatment at Centre for Life, they have been amazing. Sorry to hear about your failed cycles, will keep fingers crossed for you 😊
Just wanted to say hi!👋 I’m 33, my husband is 40, we’ve been trying for a little under 2 years and we have unexplained infertility. So we’re kind of in a similar boat. I hope you find this community as helpful and supportive as I have. Sending love, and please shout if you need anything ❤️
We had our first round in December and it went unexpectedly poorly. Lots of eggs collected (23) and fertilizations (15) but all embryos deteriorated by days 2/3. Nothing to transfer. My clinic’s best guess is that it had something to do with the stimulation protocol so we’ll be on a different one (lower dose of drugs and a different drug) next time, whenever that is! We were meant to start our second round last week but that obviously has been postponed. It’s a tough road.
Aw I’m so sorry to hear it didn’t go as well as expected. Fingers crossed for the next round. I’m very nervous, but as I’ve not had any rounds yet, but taking this time as a little blessing and going to prepare my body as much as possible. Fingers crossed. X
Welcome! It’s normal to be a little nervous and scared, I too have low ovarian reserve and recently got good news after 5 rounds of egg collection so am happy to help with anything I can. You have age on your side, so feel good about that. It’s a frustrating time, with cycles on hold, but if you can, use this time to prepare your body through diet and supplements.
Some books I recommend: “ an impatient woman’s guide to getting pregnant” and “it starts with the egg”
As the ‘not drinking’ is hard.. i would have 1/2 tart cherry juice and 1/2 pomegranate juice in a wine glass and pretend it was wine! and lots of kombucha which I pretend is Moscow mule or cider, depending on the flavour!
Firstly, congratulations on the birth of your son 💙 just amazing! Filled me with so much hope.
Do they text the thyroid with blood tests? I recall my consultant telling me that my thyroid function was ok... but that day they told me so much. I do however know that I have a cyst on my right ovary. Xx
You are right tho, so emotional and bodies are so good at tricking us.
I have no idea what my body is playing at presently. I had a period 2 weeks ago, it was very very light (I always have light periods, but this was lighter than normal). Normal procedure is a week before I’m due I get sore boobs. Nothing.
So this light period arrives and on CD3 I start with sore boobs, and they were getting bigger and bigger. Two weeks later and I’ve now had the worst period of my life, heavy and bad cramps. Literally floored me for two days. No idea what that’s about as I am normally regular down to the hour 🙈 xx
Oh wow... I’ve just seen your news. Massive congratulations 🥳 this has given me so much hope and lying reading this with a little smile on my face 😊 thank you!
But, you read my mind. Yes planning to use this time to prepare my body, better diet and more gentle exercise. Going to have a read through your post... and definitely going to read the books (plenty of time on our hands now, eh). I’m a bit clueless when it comes to supplements though... I take Folic acid and have done since prior to TTC but not sure of anything else I should/could take to assist? 😊
