I have just started my bemfola injections on nhs funded ivf. I have been taking the nasal spray synarel for the last month. my partner has been stressing out about ivf not working more than i have. I have been very lucky that I have had no major side affects from my medication so far, what can I do to manage my partner's stress which is just starting to rub off on me?

I am at same stage as you - started injections today. Try and remind them to take it stage by stage. Would talking it through help or doing something you both enjoy to take your mind off it?

Thanks. I think the main problem is she doesn't really understand the ivf process very well (fear of the unknown). I have now started explaining it in simple terms so she knows what is happening to me at each stage. We also definitely need to spend more time together relaxing and not worrying!

I've been on injections for a week now but had lots of side effects when on just the spray so your lucky. We had IUI before this for almost a year as cycles kept being cancelled due to over response, under response & cysts. My husband got really stressed/frustrated with it. I think it's because they're not really involved in the process & have no control. It caused me to get stressed to & stopped me telling him how I was feeling as he was already stressed. The best thing we did was tell his parents about the fertility treatment so he had someone to talk to. Not sure if you've told friends & family about your IVF but might be a good idea so you both have other support. The clinic should also offer free councilling for you both. Obviously it's good to talk to each other but sometimes an outside person is good. Also maybe try to involve them with treatment where possible. Get them to read things online or help you with injections.

Oh wow, getting my partner to help out more with my treatment is a wonderful idea. All my friends and family know I am having IVF. This has resulted in my in-laws mentioning I should hurry up and have a baby (again!) I had loads of fertility counselling before IVF - I actually got fed up with it, however my partner is now going to counselling at her work as she has been so stressed, that's another really good idea!

I gave up on counselling I'd rather talk to friends etc glad you've got support. Hope your partner finds counselling helpful. I get mine to help with injections just holding things, getting the ice pack & getting rid of any air bubbles out of the syringe while I ice my belly. I can do it myself but it's nice to not be alone & I think he likes to feel needed & involved. Hope things get less stressful for you both & good luck with the treatment 😊
