Help! Poor embryo quality

β€’8 Replies

Hi! New to this forum just joined today 1/7/17. I have had 2 x day 5 blastocysts transferred in today but embryologist told me that they're a grade D! This has totally thrown me as 2 days ago they were really good! She has given me 30% chance of it working and said she has had women go on to normal pregnancies and births with low grade embryos! My question has anyone had success with low grading blastocysts?? 😳😩

Hey, sorry I can't give you any success stories but I wanted to share with you that I've had 2 FET cycles both times 2 good quality (1 was even hatching) embryos transferred and both unsuccessful. My point for telling you is that please don't stress over the quality to much, I've heard plenty of stories where women have had not so good quality embryos transferred and became pregnant. So please hang on in there during this dreaded 2ww x

Thank you for messaging me back. Talk about going crazy!! I have done the dreaded thing of searching Google frantically and I have come across some success stories but still can't help feeling deflated. I'd built myself up that they were going to be grade a or b's with them saying they were looking good a couple of days earlier. I'm sorry to hear it didn't work for you :( x

That's okay, sorry I couldn't give you a more positive story just didn't want to read and not reply. Ah the dreaded google - were all guilty of that! lol yeah that's totally understandable but try to keep positive, your embryos are 'back where they belong' and that's what important. Is this your first cycle?

Yes this is my first cycle, we had icsi cos of our age and partners low sperm count. She said the little egg inside the big egg ( sorry don't really understand it all or terminology) which is the part that eventually turns into the baby is good and formed she can see it all but it's the cells around the outside that form the placenta that are alittle low. She said she'd of really liked to of seen more cells. This is going to be the longest 2 weeks in history

Oh okay, I personally would try not to think to much about the quality of even what they said, now it's just got to get comfy'. My last cycle the embryologist was so happy 1 was hatching and so certain it would 'stick' the disappoint was an even bigger blow. Yeah it definitely is a tough wait, it's a hard balance between not over doing it and having things planned to keep you occupied x

Good luck - it does happen. I had a five day hatching blastocyst and it didn't take. But I've heard of less high grade ones taking. And with two in there the chances should be a bit higher? Try not to worry and visualise your lovely blasts implanting and getting comfy. Xx

Hiya, I just thought I'd stop by and say I don't think there's much between the gradings. I got my bfp yesterday from 2 good (but not very good) 5d blastocysts.

I had 3 x 2d embies in the freezer from my fresh round, that the clinic tried to take to 5d blastys. All 3 were excellent day 3 & 4 but come day 5, 1 hadn't made it at all and 2 were classed as good (but not perfect) I chose not to ask for the gradings and I'm glad I did! It was one less thing to worry about in the 2ww lol! As I say, I really wouldn't read too much into it. The blasty are too early to really tell what will happen. Good luck! πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€

That sort of happened to me. I had 3 really good fresh on Wednesday come yesterday of ET we had lost 1 and the 2 remaining were blasts but a lower grading. I got to try chill! Congratulations to you both though! You might have twins!!!
