Day 7 of taking Menopur and no folicals :(

Hi, **I am new here** I have recently started my first cycle of ivf,

I am currently day 9 of Menopur and have yet another scan today. When I went to hospital Wednesday they scanned me and said that no folicals had developed the doctor tripled my Menopur dose for Wednesday and Thursday night in hopes that some will have formed by today's scan.

Does any one know the reason why the folicals don't develop?

I have periods every month, but they are not always on time, they are never 24 days apart, normally 32 34, so I assume I don't ovulate on time either, is this any thing to do with the folicals, is day 7 of taking them too early.

I have read on the internet that they start to develop around day 10-15 is that right?

Any help or advise would be much appreciated, thank you.

If there's one thing I've learnt it's that regular answers as to when something should happen does not mean that it's the answer for everyone. I've tied myself in knots not being able to work out why things haven't happened on days they should.

I'd assume it's AFC or AMH related - but ask the nurses today if you can see the consultant if there's no change. It could be that you just required increasing your amount of menopur. What time is your scan? x

Maybe they had you on a to low a dose from the start, but saying that a lot can happen in a couple of days so hopefully they start to show xx

Hi 05Fern. So sorry that you haven't responded very well so far, but hopefully the extra Menopur will do the trick. For some reason ovaries can become a bit resistant, but fingers crossed the extra dosage will sort them out. Good luck and I shall be thinking of you. Diane

hi fern, as emu said, there are no certainties with any of this - we are all so different. i have googled everything fertility related to the point of driving myself crazy - the best thing i can recommend is to trust the dr's.

i was a slow responder to menopur - i started on 225, up to 375 for a couple of days & was on 450 for days 6-13 of stimming. my follicles came good in the end - but i totally understand how stressful it is.

be kind to your lovely self, and annoying as it sounds, try not to worry or over analyze everything.

believe that your body knows what you need it to do.

Hi fern, everyone is so different so don't read too much into other people's experiences and follow the advice of your clinic. I stimmed for 11 days last cycle and 9 this cycle. This cycle I only had 3 follicles and my Menopur was increased to the highest dose I was told. I have low AMH. It's heartbreaking when you hear that you're not responding as well as you should be but hopefully the extra meds will help and you'll have some lovely follicles ready soon. Im same im day 19 and they start me from day 1 to 16 low dose of menupur no follicule grow and they double dose from day 17 ive had a scan today day 19 still nothing grow up but the linning 8.5 its so annoying

Thank you all for replying, my scan today was more successful I'm day 9 of taking Menopur, my womb lining is 8.7mm and there are folicals now growing, 9 on the right and 8 on the left, which the nurse said was good. They are not quite ready so I'm still on my triple dose which is 450 of Menopur untill Monday when the doctor wants to re scan, feeling a little more positive again now but realise I still have a long way to go, thank you all, I wish you all the best of luck, Fern

its so different for everyone hun but i agree with emu that if theres no real change maybe they need to up the dose?definitely push to speak to someone other than the nurses, best of luck hun, hope u have better results next scan x
