Hi I'm new here but my name's Ellan and I'm 22 (23 on NYE) - I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2012 and told in December 2014 that it may seriously effect my fertility. I was put on the pill and pretty much left to my own devices, with my questions being pretty much ignored by my GP. A few weeks ago my fiance and I have decided to start trying for a baby. We've recently moved to a new area so I went to see my new GP who looked over my medical notes, told me to stop taking my pill and to start taking folic acid, and said to keep a diary and if we'd had no luck in 6 months time to go back to see them. I came off of the pill (the end of the pack) on 30/11/16 and immediately started the Folic Acid, however it's been two weeks and I've still had no withdrawal bleed. Although a positive outcome was highly unlikely I have done two pregnancy tests just to be sure and both of which have been negative as suspected. I know I'm in for a looong ride but I was wondering if anyone had any advice as to things I could do to speed the process up? Or if I can go back to my GP before the 6 months and ask for anything?

Hi Ellan1993. Unfortunately, it can take up to 3 months for your period to return to normal after being on the Pill for some time. If it hasn't come back properly by then, you need to be referred so that your PCOS can be investigated further and appropriate treatment prescribed. Good luck! Diane
