FET 2

Hello, I am on day 12 of a medicated fet, I had my 1st scan yesterday and my lining was only 4.8, I’ve been told to continue with the estrogen pills (8mg) per day and go back in 5 days for a scan, I’ve been taking vitamin e, selenium, folic acid, vit d, drinking POM juice, eating Brazil nuts, nothing seems to help thicken it, the best it was was on my fresh cycle which ended in a chemical pregnancy, Any advice would be appreciated.

Ive had lots of trouble with my lining jn the past. The important thing is not to transfer with a thin lining. Ive mamaged to get to a reasonable thickness this time but its taken a while. Did you down regulate first? Have the clinic not auggested increasing your pills? I usually start on 8mg but usually they increase my dose. Feel free to look at some of my previous posts or ask if you think I can help!xx

Thank you for your reply..I had a prostap injection on day 21 then started my Progynova pills on day 1, they haven’t suggested increasing my pills they just said to come back in 5 days to check my lining again but I have a feeling that it won’t increase much in 5 days, the problem is I live a 8 hour train journey from my clinic so everything takes so much planning, I feel because my lining has always been thin they should be doing as much as they can from the start of my treatment to thicken it, I don’t even think my lining was at 6mm when they transferred on my fresh cycle, they think I may just have a naturally thin lining as I have got a daughter, she’s 8 and we had no problem conceiving her, I thought maybe when had my c section it may have damaged my lining but they have never suggested this xx

I think I naturally have a pretty rubbish lining too. However I asked if I could not down regulate as I felt it was making me not respond to the progynova. I seem to be doing better this time taking progynova, vit E (800) and L'arginine. I also opted for DHEA as this helped with my lining in my fresh cycles too. Have you suggested a hysteroscopy to see if there is any scaring? My clinic just won't allow transfer at that level, they like mine to be 9mm which is tough for me and they ok'd me last time at around 7ish. Best of luck, just be tough when your clinic is so far away although I'm having treatment abroad so can understand the frustration!xx

Last FET I did was on a natural cycle and they transfered when my lining was under 5, I don’t know why they would do it knowing the chances of success are so low, I feel that the best my lining was was when I was injecting the menapur for my fresh cycle and even then it was under 6, I feel it’s never going to work no matter how hard I try and what vitamins/medication I take, we have 7 frozen embryo’s and I’m at the stage I feel like giving up altogether, it must be hard having treatment abroad too, I live in the far north of Scotland and all the travelling has just been added stress xx

Ahhh I'm in Scotland too!! Bless You, I think that's awful that they transferred with a thin lining. I had an NHS transfer when mine was only 6.3mm and had no idea how bad it was. It's not until I've started private sector that I've found this out. Can I ask how old you are? Have you thought about DHEA....whats your AMH? This is the first time that my lining has gotten up to 7mm after 6 days and I'm

Sure it's due to this! I usually struggle to get to 7mm after 21 days on progynova!xx

Oh and have you tried hot water bottles on your tummy and hot baths?xx

I’m 34, I’m having treatment privately through GCRM in Glasgow, we don’t qualify for any cycles through the NHS due to having a child already, my AHH was 13.5 and when we did our initial fresh cycle we got 9 embryo’s to blast which were mostly graded A, I feel the issue is with my lining & not the embryos, I think it was only 5.5 on the cycle I had the chemical pregnancy and then not even 5 on the fresh cycle, I didn’t take DHEA when I did my fresh cycle as I thought it was for egg quality and at that point with being unexplained I wasn’t sure of what the issue was so just took folic acid and vitamin D, now I’m pretty sure it’s this really thin lining that’s causing the problem and I just feel I’m never going to get it up to 7mm, maybe I just need to accept it’s not going to happen, they haven’t offered me anything else yet to try & increase my lining, I’ve tried hot water bottles and keeping my feet warm too.

I Have a lining scan on Wednesday in Edinburgh so we’ll see if it’s increased then xx

Honestly, I would try DHEA if you don't get where you need to be. It's generally used for egg quality but because your body converts it to estrogen which obviously helps your lining grow as well as providing estrogen to help with egg quality. I'm not saying to try it now but it may be worth a shot for future....I only tried it in my fresh cycle after doing a lot of researching, didn't have anything to lose I felt....and also this recent study is promising! Keep us posted with your updates, would love to hear how you get on!xx

Oh and also my friend tried DHEA and she had twins....shes a massive advocate for it after she thought she had nothing to lose too. She was around 36 and had a higher AMH than you.xx

in reply toCinderella5

Thank you for your advice, I actually have some DHEA as I ordered it online when I was looking at different options of what to take, I did read up a lot on it but wasn’t sure what my egg quality was like, so didn’t bother taking it, infertility is such a hard thing to go through, I thought it would be easy to conceive 2nd time round, little did I know 5 years later we would be where we are now, it’s the hardest thing we have ever had to go through, I’ll start taking the DHEA and fingers crossed it’ll help, hope you have success with your future treatment xx

I honestly hand on heart can't say if my advice will be any good at all! I've heard very good and little bit bad about your clinic! However see how this goes...dont let them transfer without a decent lining. Better to try again!xx

in reply toCinderella5

Yes I’ll mke sure that my lining is good before transfer, they might increase my Progynova after my scan on Wednesday, it’s just a waiting game to see how things go, it’s all so difficult xx
