Hi everyone, I am looking for some advice. We have (finally) got our pre treatment appointment for ICSI through, which will be at Glasgow ACS for the start of next month (yeah! ). Feeling excited & nervous as you can imagine. Just wondering if anyone can tell me what happens at this appointment?? I'm not currently taking any vitamins or folic acid etc should I do that or wait to see what they say? Will they weigh me? Do they tell me what protocol etc I'll be on?? Kind of wishing the weeks away here! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Definitely take folic acid. If you get yourself a supplement for trying for a baby it will contain all you need. I take Seven Seas trying for a baby. Start that asap xx
Hiya, I would definately start on folic, good to get into your system. I think they will weigh you as they do this to make sure your bmi is ok for treatment. Have you had blood tests etc?xx
Thanks I will start them now. I've had a few different sets of bloods taken & an ultrasound a few months ago to check how many follicles I had. I can tell you I did not expect the internal ultrasound (was just told ultrasound) had drank lots of water prior to the appointment also!!! Won't make that mistake again!
I had a pre-treatment scan the other week and my first consultation is booked in for the 12th so i don't know if it would be the same? but basically they just done an internal scan on my uterus and to check how many follicles they could see and the results will be discussed at my consultation!
Best of luck!! x
Fab, thank you! I've had an internal scan before so at least I know what to expect next time!!
Ahh okay so it will be your first proper consultation? yeah im waiting for that but ive seen on here that they weigh you, go through the results, go through what medication ect you will be on and im guessing the dates for when you can start What date have you got it?x
Hey, as others have said definitely start the folic acid - I can't remember not ever taking it now lol
They normally do weigh you at consultant appointments, if you've had all the tests they may discuss these and what protocol you'll start. Lots of luck xx
I had my ICSI treatment at Glasgow acs last year at this appointment you will get bloods taken etc and give you concent forms away with you if you haven't got them already they give you an appointment to return about 2 weeks later then when you go back they will go over your blood results from which they decide which protocol you will on I was on day 4 of my cycle at the 2nd appointment and they managed to start me on day 21 I done long protocol and was successful 1st time round X
Ohhhhh interesting when I go for my first appointment I should be on day 21 so I had kinda thought we wouldn't start treatment until end of August/beginning of September. It's good to hear from others who have/are attending at Glasgow thanks xx
