Hair bleach reaction...

Hi ladies

Bit of a random post but here goes!!

So 2 weeks after my negative blood test to cheer myself up I went to have my hair done and for the first time in 3 years had bleach on my scalp. After 1/2 an hour developing I got the most horrendous pain in my lower stomach, needed to go to the toilet and was sick 3 times. I went white as a ghost and was really ill. Came straight home (wet hair and all) called DH and he came straight home from work and I was just sick for about 2 hours then it passed. I put it down to a hormonal reaction as it was only two weeks after our negative and just assumed hormones were still a bit crazy.

So

Yesterday I went to have my roots done and not on anything at the moment as starting fet process tomorrow and half an hour after she'd pasted my roots it happened again. The pain in my lower stomach was really bad and again needed the loo and felt sick.

I'm assuming that this is a reaction to the bleach (which is odd as you dont normally react to bleach but colour) but is this hormone related do you think?

Terrified now thinking there is something wrong and scared of the pain in my stomach ohh and all the girls saying are you pregnant as if you are you can react like this didn't help either!

As I said totally random post but if anyone knows anything please feel free to comment!!

Thanks

Holly x

Hi isitonlyadream. Oh dear! Not heard of this one before - bleach causing abdominal pain! I have had a word with my own hairdresser, and she reckons that most of the professional hair colours could be harmful if left on for a while. However, she said that if you were just having something like highlights done using foil, then the roots tend not to absorb much if any of the colour, and the rest of the hair is dead anyway!!

Unfortunately, people like “The Body Shop” have stopped producing their henna products because the new EU regulations stated that they had to test the dye on animals before continuing to sell it. Obviously for them that was a complete “no no”. However, “Holland & Barrett” do carry a range of safe hair colourants to use during pregnancy. They are a nationwide outfit, so I am sure you would be able to visit one fairly locally. I also spoke with the “Cosmetic and Perfumery Association (CTPA) and they assure me that hair colourants are one of the most studied consumer products on the market, and are safe for all women, pregnant or not. But if you are still concerned, why don’t you buy a chemical free semi-permanent dye such as “Clairol Nice’n’Easy”, which lasts from 6 to 8 washes. It might only tone down your roots rather than cover it completely, but better than nothing. Hope you're OK and it desn't happen again. Diane

Hi Diane

Thank you for looking into this for me. It is just so strange that I've reacted after colouring my hair for lots of years and I thought maybe it was due to hormones and possibly something to do with all of the injections that I had with the long protocol.

I'm starting fet process tomorrow so won't be going to the hairdressers for a while now and I doubt I'll have anything put on my scalp again just in case.

Thank you again,

Holly

Thanks Diane.

Tomorrow is prostap injection and scratch day can't say I'm really looking forward to the scratch but looking forward to getting started again.

Hi Holly. Okey doke! Can you make sure if possible to have some sedation prior to the scratch. You may not need it, but I like my ladies to be pretty "dosey" beforehand. Hope all goes well. If the Prostap gives you a headache, then drink extra water which often helps. Good luck! Diane

Hi Diane

They've told me 2 paracetamol and an ibruptofen an hour beforehand but I'll ask about the sedation tomorrow too.

Thanks for the water tip, I managed ok on buserelin but not too sure about the prostap as I've read some horrible experiences of it...

Will keep you posted,

Holly.
