Hello, I'm 2 days post egg retrieval and after managing to clear up the trapped wind with wind-eze capsules, I have an uncomfortable heaviness in my lower abdomen. When urinating there is added pressure on the lower stomach but I'm passing as much urine as is normal for me and drinking plenty 2-3litres/day. Im at risk of OHSS but so far not got any symptoms of it.
Has anybody else experienced this following egg collection?
Thank you xx

Hi United07, I didn’t have wind problems but do remember pee’ing felt like it was a little stream lasting forever, which isn’t like me and I had to wear baggy trousers and leggings for about 4 days as I felt very bloated and bruised. I don’t think that helped when I pee’d. I hope you feel better soon. Do you know if your a 3 or 5 day transfer? X
Sorry for the info but yeah the flow is there just feels a bit awkward and uncomfy because of the pressure. How long did that last with you? I'm the same in terms of needing something comfy, as it's weekend I've stayed in my pjs most of it but back to work tomorrow.
I'm waiting for the call in the morning regarding transfer day, we had a call Saturday that 14 fertilised so hoping for a day 5 but we know anything can happen xx
14 fertilised is great! You get obsessed with numbers.
I think by the time I put my jeans back on I was feeling better but not 100%, it was possibly my transfer day.
tmi . . . I drink a lot all the time and don’t pee very often so had to force myself to go more often so that there was less pressure, it helped so much so maybe try that.
Hopefully being at work will distract you, I needed to be busy. Xx
That's it we've been trying not to think of it like that and just wait to hear from the embryologist in the morning as it's so easy to get carried away.
Luckily I work in a hospital and my uniform is scrubs so the trousers especially are very loose fitting which is a bonus. Yeah I'll give that a try, I am going regular with the amount I'm drinking but waiting til I get a full bladder and then it is proving tricky.
That's amazing! Even though you're at risk of OHSS, you'll still have a fresh transfer? Coz I was at risk they said they have to do frozen transfer so I've gotta wait a couple of months until all the hormones have left my body and gone back to normal
Just had a call from the embryologist and yes it appears I'll be going ahead on Wednesday unless anything changes between now and then. I've tried everything to try to keep symptoms at bay and it appears to have helped so far 🤞 . I think each hospital must work things differently. They must want to make sure your body is fully recovered before putting extra strain on you, mine might not necessarily be a good thing I'm sure I'll regret it if the symptoms kick in after transfer. Good luck with everything xx
Yeh true different hospitals might work differently. That's good news for u! Hope it all goes well! Don't test early! Wait the 2 weeks as hard as that'll be! And keep us updated! Good luck to u too!xx
Yeah they probably all work to similar protocols with slight variations. Thank you we will see what happens between now and then 🤞 . That is certainly going to be the hardest part of all this waiting around, I hope your journey goes well too 🤞 xx
Hi love, I definitely had the added pressure when urinating after egg collection. When I called the clinic, they told me that emptying your bladder causes your ovaries - which are quite tender post retrieval - to shift a bit, hence the added pressure. Hope this helps ease your worry ❤️
Glad to hear somebody else had the same and that the clinic were reassuring. It doesn't seem to be OHSS as I don't have the symptoms which is what was concerning me. Thank you so much xx
Hi United I did end up with the OHSS so I can totally relate! Just keep drinking the water and fingers crossed you don’t get the OHSS, rest as and when you need it and sending you massive of luck and hope you feel better soon 🤞🏻 xx
I've been drinking tap water, milk, coconut water & still sports drinks to mix it up as I wouldn't drink as much sticking to just water. I also read that the coconut water and sports drinks may help in preventing OHSS but not sure how true that is. I'm eating lots of protein, veg and fruit too since Friday evening. Thank you, really appreciate it xx
I've had the exact same thing. I was passing a lot of wind and felt very bloated and I felt that pressure too when peeing. I was also at risk of OHSS. They advised to eat lots of protein too. I think I felt ok and back to normal around a week later. Other than bloating I didn't have any other symptoms. So not sure if I had it and very mild or not had it at all
I had the same hun. When all the follicles are aspirated, and the eggs removed, the follicles all fill up with fluid again. So the ovaries are swollen - normally we’d only have one follicle filled with fluid after ovulation. Make sure you keep in touch with your doctor and advise them if any new symptoms. Make sure you’re well hydrated and your electrolyte balance is good and salty foods can help. I used a hot water bottle and paracetamol for the pain. The pain should reduce in about a week when the ovaries reduce in size as the fluid drains from them. Hang in there hun, painful and uncomfortable, but it will pass 🙏💕
Thank you so much for the information. Since posting on here last night everything seems to have eased massively. I had such a good nights sleep and instead of waiting until my bladder is full I'm now going more regularly to avoid that pressure. Xx
