Does embryo transfer hurt?
Hi Aimaim77. I didn't find it painful at all apart from needing to have a "comfortable full bladder", like there is such a thing. The first try for me wasn't successful and I was taking it easy and probably stressing about it all quite a lot.The second time I carried on as normal and my DH didn't go right into tbe room with me, we tried to make it as stress free as possible, again like there is such a thing. Anyways.....I am now 9 weeks pregnant and had our first scan last and seen our little beans heartbeat.
It really depends on the type of person you are, I like to keep active and busy but if you feel like you want to relax and take it easy then it's up to you. Everyone is different. Remember when these lucky women out there get pregnant naturally then a lot of them don't even know they are pregnant and carry on as normal.
Sorry for rambling. Good luck and sending baby dust your way. Xxxx
Hello aimaim77 for me the ET was horrible and I found it really uncomfortable. Saying that though everyone I've seen on here have all said it was no problem for them. Definitely take it as a possitive more say it's ok than those who say it was painful! Just keep on thinking with the thought the pain isn't forever and the outcome will hopefully be life changing for you!! Good luck xxx
For me , it's not painful. It's similar when you do the smear test. And also it take just 5 mins. Don't be afraid.
I'm now during 2ww. I was just resting at home especially for few days . After that I walk for a a little while and do some light activities such as quick cooking, washing up , having a shower. Avoid lifting , exercising, jumping, bathing
All the best x
I found them fine as long as I had a full bladder. First time I hadn't and it was a bit uncomfortable.
Avoid housework, hoovering and heavy lifting. Shame! Some ladies take the 2ww off work and others carry on. This might depend on your type of work.
Good luck for a BFP.
Both my transfers have been painless & quickly over and done x
The transfer is like a prolonged smear test which I don't find comfortable but there is no pain associated with the transfer. It's actually a surreal event as you are there (in the most undignified of positions) looking at a thin tube carrying what you hope will be your baby! I think most places will let you see the ultrasound image and sometimes, but not always, you can see a flash of light on the screen when the embryo is implanted.
I find that if I go to the toilet about half an hour before the transfer time then continually sip water until the appointment time my bladder is full enough without being horrifically uncomfortable, especially as they are pressing on your stomach with the ultrasound scanner! It also helps not to be bursting as it is good if you can remain lying down for a few moments after the transfer (more for peace of mind I think!)
Good luck!
ET is just like a smear. No pain for me just relax. I was desperate for a wee though!! 😂😂
Hi . I never found it painful at all. the only problem I had was having a extremely full bladder and the clinic were running about 40 mins late.. I was so desperate I had to do a little widdle before I went in .I have been taken it easy pretty much since egg collection, apart from light house duties and walking I am now about 8 weeks pregnant XX
Oh lovely, was this your first attempt? I had egg col on Wednesday and still feel sore so I'm sort of thinking that my transfer tmr will be uncomfortable.
Ive pretty much been in bed most of yesterday and today, ( which I never ever do) I'm having Accupuncture later.
I was half expecting the embryology to call today to let me know how the two embryos were doing that they were keeping an eye on, but they havnt called.
I had 9 eggs collected 6 fertilised, 1 lost and 2 they were keeping checks on.
M a of nxt week so Plan to take it easy .
How r u finding your pregnancy so far Hun xxxx
Hi. This is my second attempt at IVF but our first one didnt even make to egg collection ..My pregnancy has had a few ups and downs. Ive had a fair bit of bleeding and some nasty cramps but have had two reassurance scans with a strong heartbeat and it had doubled in size with the second scan .. So feeling quiet positive at the moment, keeping in mind that ive lost two previous pregnancies.. But with this awful morning sickness and constant tiredness all the time we are happy for the time being Hope every thing goes well for you. I shall keep my fingers and toes crossed for you xxx
Hi, to me it was a bit painful because that cold metal thing they use got a bit stuck on the way in, so found it very difficult to relax. But the transfer on its own I didn't feel at all and it's over within no time and no pain after. We could even choose to see the blastocyst on a big screen before transfer - it's really special. I'm now 8+3 weeks pregnant and so far so good Wish you all the best - with so many fertilised eggs hopefully there will be some good ones to choose from. Good luck!
