Baseline scan... Not ready yet...

Hi all

Had baseline scan this morning lining not ready so staying on bureselin for another week. This is fine and happy to do so

BUT

We had booked the embryo scope time lapse for w/c the 2nd May and now it'll be w/c 9th may so I called Leeds to change the dates to be told it's full that week! I booked this back in March and I'm really mad now.

I've to call in the morning to see about cancellation list but what if they cannot fit us in that week??

Have you all had this time lapse (it's not cheap an extra £700) but we were told success rates are much better.

I've been doing so well injecting every night, no mood swings but now work is soooo busy and I just want to sit in the garden and cry.

Sorry for the rant but any advice would be welcome

Holly

I feel for you Holly- it's so unpredicable and that is really unfair to be told you have to wait and then there are no appointments - there should be allowances for that! - you're not telling me that you are the only woman in the world in IVF  who this has happened to? Gosh I'm getting so angry on your behalf. I've just emailed a complaint to my clinic as I'm not happy with being told we were "lucky" to get our IVF funded amongst other things that were said. I think clinics just need to remember that by the time we actually get to them we are several years in- and as for "luck"- if I had that I wouldn't be in the clinic!!! My clinic has details on the wall of complaints procedure including contacting national bodies- so I would do that if I were you. You are perfectly within your rights- I work in a job where I get moaned at all day - it's part of good practise to learn from customer complaints and we are the customers! ! Rant over- do you feel better?! Xxx ;)

Hi RedScout

Thank you for getting back to me.

Unfortunately I am at the satellite unit in Halifax but they do the collection / transfer in Leeds, I did call Halifax once I got off of the phone and its not their fault and they have no control over the Leeds unit. I am calling again in the morning to see about these cancellations and I will not take no for an answer. I cannot be the only one who's body has not gone as planned.... to have booked it in March I thought that was all I needed to do - no-one told me that it was a case of ''book it but you'll miss it if you need to change it.''

I too work with customers on a daily basis and yes I get the moaning all of the time!!! - I am not moaning but they should have told me to book potentially 3 weeks and not the one week just in case!!!

Good on you for emailing the clinic, I wish we had managed to get funding but we are having to self fund so that makes me even angrier, they are happy to invoice me the day after I booked it but they will not allow me to change it - she even said - don't cancel the 2nd May as there is no room for the 9th may - how ridiculous, Halifax have said I wont even start stimming until next Thursday at the earliest.

I will not give up on this one - my OH doesn't see what I am wound up about but I think once we set our hearts on this then we should be supported by the clinics and not told no....

(again, sorry for the ranting!!)

All the best,

Holly x

I'm a bit surprised about having to timetable in an embryoscope. We had this, paid extra as nhs did not fund it. But everyone cycles differ I ended up 3 days early as my eggs grew faster on the next round of drugs although you are doing an extra week of buserilin you don't know how quickly your eggs will develop. On the egg collection on the day, we just informed them we wanted embryoscope, paid and this was double checked with the embryologist taking our eggs.

Hi RedScout and Stilltrying1

Thank you for your replies - I called Leeds this morning and actually spoke to someone who sounded like she knows what she is talking about!

They have 30 embryoscope machines and have 28 booked in already but agrees that not everyone will go to plan and someone on that list is noted as not even wanting to be on it!

So I am now moved forward to the 9th May and have to call them again when I start stimms ...

So all booked in and they had me pay for it too.

Thank you again for getting back to me - in this whole process we have to put our trust in the hands of the experts but sometimes they need a gentle nudge!!
