Acupuncture

Hi. I am waiting on our appointment for ICSI at Glasgow Royal. They told us around July time so patiently (or impatiently waiting). 

I have saw a lot on comments on acupuncture. Is this something that's recommended? If so what is the purpose of it? Can anyone help?

Hi, 

A lot of people (medical and holistic ) recommended acupuncture for fertility and to help with your chances of having a successful IVF. It is supposed to improve the blood flow to the uterus and help with implantation and improve the energy flow through your body.

I've been having it for about a year and a half and I find it very relaxing and very de-stressing. It hasn't helped me unfortunately with my IVF cycles but I'm going to continue with it anyway for the relaxation aspect of it at least. 

Some Dr's will say that it's a waste of money and there is no evidence to say that it helps with implantation but if you believe in holistic therapies definitely give it a go. It certainly can't do any harm and will relax you at the very least. 

I definitely think holistic therapies can be very helpful working along side the medical treatments. Just do a little research and find a good acupuncturist that specializes in fertility acupuncture. It usually costs around £40 a session.
