Acupuncture and natural IVF

Hi Ladies,

Sorry to keep posting but looking for more advice following my consultation for second IVF cycle.

We have decided to do the next round naturally. I am waiting for the trial ovulation (hopefully test positive on Tuesday about 29day cycle) then period so hopefully FET will be beginning of June.

I am going to try acupuncture so I am just wondering how many sessions would be recommended to work? And when should they be started? Don't really want to spend all my money on loads of sessions when this journey is going to be expensive enough xx

Hi Sammy18, I recently had a free consultation with a fertility acupuncturist and she has advised 5 acupuncture sessions. Her costs were £70 for the first followed by £55 for each session after that so it does start to mount up quickly. Did your consultant give you any suggestions of who to contact locally? It is worth going for a free consultation and making the decision from there. I've not had any acupuncture yet but start my first IVF cycle next month and plan to give it a shot. I can let you know how I can get on. Best of luck to you on your next cycle of treatment. XX

Hi Jengi, thank you for your reply. My clinic have not mentioned acupuncture, I saw someone doing it on here and looked into it. I contacted a clinic close to me and they charge £50 for first consultation including treatment then £45 after. I was considering this price and having the first a week before FET then 2/3 sessions in the 2ww. But if there are free consultations on offer I may try and find one 😀

Good luck for next month too I will keep an eye out for your posts xx

My acupuncturist suggests starting 4 weeks before to get your body ready then 1 before and after ET. I’ve found it has helped with my stress levels as well, lots of luck x

My daughter had acupuncture and it helped her loads both for the fertility and also for anxiety. She also had acupuncture the day after egg transfer. She got her BFP XX

Hi Sammy18. Just wanted to wish you well with your forthcoming natural cycle. With regards to acupuncture, 4 or 5 sessions should be good. Will be thinking of you. Diane

My clinic (London Acupuncture Clinic) has been doing IVF acupuncture for about 15 years.

They advise weekly sessions starting during downreg and then a few sessions during stimming to help symptoms.

Then a session pre transfer and one post transfer.

They advise none during 2ww but once a week if you get a BFP. Which I have! 😊

I found the sessions around transfer very relaxing and reduced my stress levels lots! Xx

Congratulations everyone on their BFPs, it really is lovely to see so many and great to see everyone getting through this tough time.

I have spoken to my sister tonight and she has offered to pay for my sessions bless her (tried to say at least let me help and she wouldn't have any of it made me promise to make her godmother when it works haha)

I am going to call the clinic Monday and see if my dates would match with there dates to book an appointment for acupuncture closer to the time. 🙂🙂🙂

Thank you all so much for your help xx

Hi Sammy, I have been doing acupuncture once a week since Christmas, concentrating on the uterus.. I believe it will help with blood flow and it’s nice just to have some quite time if nothing else it’s sooo relaxing..

Good luck 🤞🏻
