Buserelin pain

Hi I'm on day 17 of buserelin, the first 2 weeks were ok with minor side effects however the last 3 days I'm experiencing quite bad stomach pains. They only seem to start after I've eaten but then they are are continuous. Has anyone else experienced this? The pain is really quite bad.

On my first round of IUI I had dreadful cramps while on buserelin as well as headaches, palpitations and lack of concentration. This stopped once I started my menopur. On my second round I had very few side effects but also had a poor response to the drugs so I'd equate stomach pains to a good response. I ended up working from home for a couple of days as the pain was so bad.

Do you start your evening injections soon?

Good luck xx

Thanks for your reply. I start my second injections tonight. I've had a scan and was told everything was fine. I'm seeing my GP later about the pains as that's what my IVF clinic advised. Thanks again

Did you notice the stinging get worse as the buserelin days went by?! I'm only on day 4 but feel like it really stung today more than last few days. Not experienced side effects yet! Good luck with next injections x

I found it helps to store the bottle in a warm room (not too hot though) or hold the bottle in the palm of your hand for a couple of minutes to warm it up which made it sting less for me. I'm 10 days into my next injections and had my first follicle scan yesterday. Only one is doing well with two maybes so it's disappointing.

That's great that you are not experiencing many side effects! Good luck with the next jabs x

I looked into this the last time I was on buserelin as I was getting a lot of cramping (I have IBS but it is usually pretty well controlled). GnRH plays a role in intestinal motility and so when you take GnRH agonists it messes with gut function. Abdominal cramping is a listed side effect of the medication in the data sheet. Once you stop taking it the pain should reduce xx

Thank you! Comforting to know. Ive been taking tablets to reduce stomach acid which is helping. Did you stop experiencing symptoms when u reduced and started stimms or not until u stopped altogether? Hopefully this week will be starting stimms and reducing buserelin to 0.25ml a day
